TORTOISE V. HARE :: BIG RACE!! from Dylan Stiles on Vimeo.

For anyone who’s ever wondered who would really emerge victorious in a speed matchup between a tortoise and a hare, Vimeo user Dylan Stiles offers an enlightening (and funny) video.

OK, so Stiles’ experiment has a few tiny problems -- for starters, the ‘hare’ seen in his video is actually a rabbit. (Hares, by definition, are not domesticated; the fluffy bunnies you’ll often see living as house pets, like the fellow above, are rabbits.) Further, we suspect that this rabbit doesn’t care as much about the treat at the end of the race course as his reptilian counterpart does.

Unscientific though his experiment may be, we think Stiles’ video offers a pretty interesting glimpse into what the mythical plodding-reptile-vs.-quick-mammal race was really all about.

This is one flighty rabbit -- and one rather determined tortoise. We think the latter’s victory -- if one can accurately call it a victory -- is well-deserved.
