Because we love animals, photography and you, we’ve compiled a gallery of our favorite pictures taken last week from around the animal kingdom.

In this gallery, you’ll see dogs, of course (in fact, our personal favorite shot of the bunch comes from an Australian art installment called ‘Dachshund U.N.’ -- and yes, it is what it sounds like). You’ll see thirsty monkeys, farm animals, big cats, rescued birds and playful squirrels. You’ll see horses -- oh, boy, will you see horses (after all, the running of one of America’s most famous horse races, the Preakness Stakes, was held Saturday). Don’t worry -- there are some cute animal babies too.
