Whoopie, a young Sykes’ monkey, was born in early November at Germany’s Hannover Adventure Zoo. Although she’s only a few weeks old, zoo staff report that she’s already asserting her independence from mother Maggie, exploring her enclosure on her own and taking plenty of time out for jumping and climbing.

Sykes’ monkeys, also known as white-throated monkeys, are native to parts of eastern and southern Africa, where they live primarily on fruit, nuts, buds and insects.
