Our friends at The Times’ food blog, Daily Dish, clued us in to a great report from OpenTable in which the restaurant website ranks its picks for the top 10 dog-friendly restaurants in the U.S. We were pleased to learn that one local restaurant -- The Farm of Beverly Hills (which has three L.A. area locations, two of which aren’t in Beverly Hills) -- made the cut.

‘The Farm is one of the most pet-friendly restaurants around,’ spokesperson Kelli Richardson told OpenTable, noting that the restaurant hosted an event called ‘Eat With Your Paws for a Good Cause’ as part of National Dog Week last September. (The event raised money to support the Best Friends Animal Society.) ‘At each of our locations, we are more than happy to accommodate four-legged guests of guests. We will set up a bowl of water for the dog just outside our patio or next to the table. We are very mindful of health department rules regarding animals in restaurants. But, our patio allows us to comply by keeping animals just outside of the railing.’

In addition to its Beverly Hills location (at 439 North Beverly Drive), The Farm operates restaurants at L.A. Live and at The Grove shopping center, itself a popular pet-friendly destination that welcomes all well-behaved, leashed dogs to accompany their shopping owners.

In addition to The Farm, two other California restaurants made OpenTable’s list -- Napa’s FARM at the Carneros Inn and Calistoga’s Solbar. In keeping with its dog-friendly theme, OpenTable also offers etiquette (petiquette?) tips for dining with your dog and a list of pet products designed to make restaurant visits easier on owners.

We’re always all ears where dog-friendly dining is concerned (our personal favorite L.A. destination is Happy Veggie in Redondo Beach, which boasts not only a vegan-friendly menu but also a proprietor whose love of animals means doggie visitors are often treated with helpings of brown rice in addition to their own water bowl).
