Dogs are nothing if not photogenic, and Times photographer Mel Melcon has captured them over the years in a wide variety of situations and poses. (Above, a rescued German shorthaired pointer named Luna meets Dando, a Rhodesian ridgeback mix. Dando’s owner brought him to an adoption event hosted by the Agoura Hills-based rescue group L.I.F.E. in order to test his responses to potential new ‘brothers’ and ‘sisters.’ The man later adopted Luna.)

A dog on a bike? A dog using a water fountain like an old pro? A dog recovering from injury being wheeled in a stroller? Melcon’s seen it all, and his dog photography is chronicled in a new photo gallery here at Latimes.com. We highly recommend it! Got dog photos of your own? Submit them to The Times’ photo-sharing site, Your Scene.

(Note for dog lovers: The gallery includes a photo of a dog left in a parked car, a practice we emphatically do not endorse due to horror stories like this one.)
