Carpet python in closeup

July 8, 2009 |  6:14 pm

Python

Submitter mum shares this detailed closeup of a carpet python, a constrictor snake native to Australia (particularly the states of Queensland, where mum found this one, and New South Wales).

Carpet pythons can grow to 10 feet in length and spend a large amount of their time in trees.  They're so named because, it is said, their intricate markings resemble Oriental rugs
