As part yesterday’s Earth Day celebration, keepers at Chicago’s Lincoln Park Zoo offered a special treat to this resident puma: a deer-shaped ‘piñata.’ (They even placed a beef bone on top.)

Since pumas are found across a large range of territory spanning areas in North, Central and South America, they’ve acquired a variety of names. Puma, cougar, mountain lion, panther and catamount are all names used to describe this single species. And all are considered correct (but the San Diego Zoo notes that most scientists use the term ‘puma’).
