Sylvester, an 8-week-old Sumatran tiger cub, is the Jerusalem Biblical Zoo‘s newest resident. The zoo is famous for its collection of animals mentioned in the Hebrew Bible.

Sylvester was abandoned by his mother and is being raised by zoo staff. The Sumatran tiger is an endangered species native to the Indonesian island of Sumatra, where fewer than 400 are believed to exist in the wild, according to the World Wildlife Fund. Sumatran tigers are the smallest of the tiger subspecies.
