In precautionary measure, PetSmart recalls dog biscuits amid salmonella outbreak

The salmonella outbreak that has sickened more than 450 people in the U.S. and Canada is now affecting pets as well.
PetSmart has announced a voluntary recall of seven Grreat Choice-brand dog biscuits that contain peanut paste from the Georgia plant deemed the source of the outbreak by the FDA.
"While some of these products have been tested and no traces of salmonella were found, we have recalled these products as a precautionary measure," according to a release posted on PetSmart's website yesterday.
PetSmart spokesman Bruce Richardson, reached for comment today, said that no salmonella had been detected since the original statement was posted and that no additional products are affected by the recall. The seven items affected:

Our dog got extremely sick last week. He threw up, had diaheria, and was constantly trying to poop. We took him to the vet. It cost us about $700 after all the test and medicine. He was sick for about a week. He is better now and we are happy. I will check to see if we can be reimbursed for our vet bill. I sure hope no dogs died because of this.

We have 4 dogs. They all got very sick on us over a week ago. We had to take all of them to the vet. You can only imagine the cost of that bill. We had to throw aways two bags of dog food and one bag of treats. They are all well now and have been doing great since we got rid of that food.

My dog died yesterday after a short outbrake of diarrhea and after consuming Great Choice Peanut Butter dog biscuits. Not knowing this product had been recalled, we did not do any tests prior to his cremation. We are heartbroken!
