U.S. seeking hearts and minds of Afghanis through their goats

U.S. military officials in Afghanistan hope one way to gain favor with villagers is to improve the health of their livestock.

And so this week U.S. veterinarians and other troops were in Oruzgan province -- once an insurgent stronghold -- to vaccinate farm animals (530 of them) and provide some basic herd management instruction.

For many of the villagers, their herds are their primary source of income, said Zemarai Bashary of the Afghanistan Ministry of Interior.
