Keeper has an armful of orangutans
Baby orangutans Mariam, Ayu and Jarot -- yes, there are three -- cling to their keeper Ayub Damianto at an orangutan rehabilitation center in Sibolangit, in Indonesia's North Sumatra province. Orangutans in the wild are on the brink of extinction due to poaching, the pet trade and habitat loss.

Orangutans are critically endangered in the wild because of rapid deforestation and the expansion of palm oil plantations into the forest. If nothing is done to protect them, these gentle creatures could be extinct in less than 5 years!

Wildlife conservationists should purchase direly endangered orangutans from Indonesia and relocate them to sanctuaries and zoos. Orangutans will not be able to survive in irreverent and deadly regions of Indonesia.
