Adopt-a-Pet: South L.A. shelter

There are many wonderful pets to be found today in L.A.'s South Los Angeles shelter -- here is but a tiny sampling:

Southgray1Southgray2Southgray3

For starters, meet Prudence, Peanut and Polly (above, left to right), ID Nos. A0974090, A0974089 and A0974085, respectively.  They're unaltered domestic shorthairs, about 5 months old.  Prudence and Polly are females (as you might imagine) and Peanut is a male.  Criminally adorable?  Perhaps.  But we'll just have to forgive them that; after all, they are kittens.

leo

Leo here (ID No. A0981339) is an unneutered Beagle mix who's about 2 years old.  We don't know how he escaped from the Daisy Hill Puppy Farm, but their Beagle loss could be your Beagle gain.

What's that, you say?  Where are all the chihuahuas and chihuahua mixes?

Above left, meet Cookie (ID No. A0976485), an unspayed female about 2 years old.  Above right, a sweet-faced, nameless, senior female (ID No. A0980494) who's approximately 10 years old.

Southchispita Southmona

We think these two would make a fantastic matched set.  If you can train them to sit with a row of books between them, even better.

Above left is Chispita (ID No. A0855967), a spayed female who's about 5 years old.  And above right, Mona (ID No. A0980042) is an unspayed female, approximately a year old.

Southrocky_2 Finally, no chihuahua retrospective would be complete without a longhaired specimen.  Meet Rocky (ID No. A0982143), left, an unneutered male who's about a year old.

All these animals are available for adoption at the South Los Angeles Animal Care Center, located at 3612 11th Avenue.  For more information call 888-4LAPET1 (they'll need the handy ID number listed here along with each photo).
