The Chinese government says that 144 giant pandas kept at breeding facilities in the quake-stricken Sichuan province are safe. Eighty-six of those pandas live at the China Wolong Giant Panda Protection and Research Center, about 20 miles from the quake’s epicenter, the government reports. The 7.9 magnitude temblor hit China Monday. The Times' Travel section has the details on the giant pandas.

Out of curiosity, can the Chinese pandas bare more than one cub? Or is that law only restricted to humans? China, get your priorities right or you'll end up like the United States:
"Kill a man, you are out on bail",
"Kill an animal, you STAY in jail!"
I'd much rather see a Free Tibet than to help revive a species on the brink of extinctiion. Who the hell cares about the pandas when China has much more problems to deal with, for cryin' out loud!
