Bay Area beavers get reprieve -- for now

April 18, 2008 | 10:28 am

The City Council in the Bay Area city of Martinez decided this week to hold off on deciding whether to relocate a family of beavers in Alhambra Creek, the San Jose Mercury News reports. City officials are studying whether the beavers' engineering efforts might damage local waterways and property.

When the council met Wednesday night, the Mercury News reports, several people wore "pro-beaver T-shirts" and one woman sang a ballad in praise of beavers. The Mercury News has all the details.
