Hot pink poodle’s owner on the hot seat

In case you missed this in Sunday’s Times:

A salon owner in Boulder, Colo., is facing a $1,000 fine and up to 90 days in prison for dyeing her poodle pink to raise breast cancer awareness.

Joy Douglas--pictured with her poodle Cici--used a concoction of pureed organic beets mixed with Kool-Aid and egg whites to dye the dog for the past year.

‘It comes out a nice hot pink,’ she said.
