Six teachers honored
Six Southern California preschool teachers have been named Preschool Teacher of the Year by Los Angeles Universal Preschool, an independent, public-benefit corporation dedicated to making voluntary, high-quality preschool available to every 4-year-old in Los Angeles County. (Note: I corrected this post, because Los Angeles Universal Preschool does not abbreviate to L.A., which I did yesterday.)
The award recipients, who will be honored at a ceremony today at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, are:
--Debbie Frohmuth, who teaches at Glendale Community College Child Development Center in Glendale;
--Janelle Holt, who teaches at Play House West Children Today Preschool in Long Beach;
--Keone Kealalio, who teaches at Temple Isaiah Preschool in Los Angeles;
--Emmy Patty Linares, who teaches at the Clinton Head Start Foundation for Early Childhood Education in Los Angeles;
--Darla Pulliam, who teaches at the Center for Early Education, Office of Child Development, Culver City Unified School District in Culver City; and
--Gadierx Vassallo, who teaches at Washington Elementary School, Pomona Unified School District, in Pomona.
Los Angeles Universal Preschool received about 100 nominations. The nominations were submitted by people associated with the nominee’s preschool.
