Library holds camp for homeless children
For Jacqueline, one of the best parts of Camp LAPL was the bus. It brought about 20 homeless kids to the central library each morning this week for puppet shows and T-shirts, story telling and crafts.

Campers work on a dinosaur puzzle on Wednesday.
Jacqueline, a camper who will be in fourth grade in the fall, said she's also a fan of Junie B. Jones, a "funny character" in a children's book series.
This is the seventh year the Los Angeles Public Library has held its weeklong day camp for homeless children, said Ilene Abramson, director of the Children's Services Department.
The campers get library cards, T-shirts, some books and lunch every day. And each day has a theme. Thursday was library day -- tours of the building, a puppet show about the magic of libraries and a time to read in the children's section.
Abramson said she sees some of the children studying or reading in the library during the school year.
