Separation anxiety for the class of 2008

Nick Giulioni writes:

With less than two weeks left of school, it appears as if South Pasadena High School is suffering from separation anxiety with the class of 2008.  There are tons of after-school events these last few of days, so that despite the relatively short period of time left, I feel as if I’m spending more time than ever on campus.

Senior Awards Night looms on the horizon, when students from the class of 2008 will receive dozens of awards and scholarships.  While students are not notified in advance what they will win, they are told that they will receive something.  As of now, I expect to accept an honor cord from the Journalism Society.

Another event is the Farewell Assembly, a celebration where underclassmen honor the seniors in the last assembly of the year.  This is one of the most emotionally charged events of the year as it tends to reflect on the four years the class of 2008 has spent at the high school.  By the end, it tends to degrade into crying, hugging, and reminiscing.

And the biggest blunder in scheduling this year goes to the South Pasadena School District who planned “Open House” for Thursday night.  This was the same night as Game 1 of the NBA Finals.  Not a good choice at all.

YES I BELIEVE EVERYONE IS JUST SOAKING IN THE LAST FEW MEMORIES BEFORE THEY GRADUATE. I WAS WALKING TO MY CLASS TODAY WITH MY FRIEND AND SHE GOES "DAM IT'S NEXT THURSDAY, AND THEN WE WILL NEVER WALK IN THIS SCHOOL AS STUDENTS." TEACHER REMARKS KEEP ON ECHOING IN MY HEAD "5 DAYS BEFORE THE FINAL" OR FOR EXAMPLE, THERE'S THIS TEACHER OF MY SCHOOL WHO HAS A COUNTDOWN OF DAYS FOR SENIORS AND JUNIORS, THE TITLE OF IT IS "DAYS LEFT TO GRADUATE OR MINIMUM WAGE." A BIG TRUTH PEOPLE HARDLY EMPAHSIZE. WELL AS A SENIOR I CAN HONESTLY SAY, MY HIGH SCHOOL YEARS WERE THE BEST, EACH DIFFERENT FROM ANOTHER MAKING THE EXPIERIENCE EVEN BETTER. CONGRATS TO YOU NICK FOR YOUR AWARD AND MOST OF ALL CONGRATS TO THE CLASS OF '08!!!!
