Graffiti 101: Come join the discussion!
Antero Garcia, an English teacher at Manual Arts High, writes:
Greeting readers!
After nearly a month of reading, writing, and discussing issues and themes related to graffiti in Los Angeles, my 11th-grade students and Mark Gomez’ seventh-graders at John Muir Middle School are busy preparing for a unique dialogue to take place Friday.
More important, all of you are invited to participate! In small groups that are facilitated by professional artists, educators, community organizers, and representatives from the city of Los Angeles, these students will discuss personal arguments about graffiti, public art, and individual agency. We encourage you to join us for this conversation.
The event will take place on Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Southern California Library, 6120 S. Vermont Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90044.
We hope to see you there!

Usually the line is crossed and graffiti becomes a threat. Then schools go into lockdown.
