Teens and Mother's Day
Sunday is Mother’s Day, but there’s plenty of time for what author Sarah Burningham says will be the most appreciated gift from a teenager.
"A card is the best thing you can do for your mom," says the author of "How to Raise Your Parents: A Teen Girl's Survival Guide."
Burningham, whose network of teenagers includes boys too, insists that most teenagers really love their parents -- despite the arguments, door-slamming, yelling and other indications to the contrary.
So, teens, she said in an interview today: "Get it all out on a card.”
"Find a card, even if it’s cheesy. Make it your own and tell your mom why you love her and why you appreciate her."
Burningham does it herself every year.
And parents, her advice for you is to take time from that busy life: "It’s important that they take time out from all that multitasking. Stop doing the dishes. Stop driving. And actually look their teenager in the eye for a few minutes a day and really listen."
