Stand up, don't sit down, fight fight fight?
Think the Los Angeles school board is concerned about the possible $460-million budget cut it's facing next year because of Gov. Schwarzenegger's proposed budget? The board called a special meeting Tuesday night to vote on a resolution titled "Opposition to State Budget Cuts to Education."
During the meeting, the board changed the title to "Standing Up for Children: Opposition to State Budget Cuts to Education." To drive their point home, the board members stood up while they voted and urged all four or so audience members still remaining to also get to their feet.
The measure passed unanimously.

They have no clue! That means nothing, standing up for a vote, give me a break. What they should of talked about were real solutions. They can not speak about real solutions because so many people feel they are entitled to eat from the LAUSD troth. Here are some real solutions, they might not be possible but at least they address the problem of tightening the belt. Turning off all lights at schools when possible. If we turned off all of the light at every school every night how much money would that save? Plenty of the classrooms have enough light with the doors and windows open and if the weather permits bring them out side for lessons. Turning off all heating and air conditioning at all district offices. Freeze the purchase of any new materials until there is an audit of what the district actually does have. Go to any school in the district and see all of the paper and supplies they have stock piled. Look into cutting the free meals programs too. Free lunches are provided on the honor system. Families do not have to prove their income they just have to fill out paper work stating their income and that they are not lying. Yes I know it is a federal program but the workers who process the tickets, cook the food, deliver the food and pay all of these people are district employees. This money should be cut. There are a lot of pigs eating from the LAUSD troth and it's about time we put them on a diet.
