Steven Hicks
Steven Hicks has a one-year appointment as a teaching ambassador fellow with the U.S. Department of Education in Washington, D.C. Named Los Angeles County Teacher of the Year and member of the USA Today All-USA Teacher Team, he teaches kindergarten at the Accelerated School, a public charter school in South Los Angeles. He is also a founder of Classrooms Without Borders, a nonprofit organization that works in partnership with communities in developing countries to provide free and sustainable education with world-class standards.

“The Future Is Now: Why I Made the Switch to Online Learning”
A significant and timely panel on concluded yesterday at the 2008 Virtual School Symposium. Panelists included a former state board of education president, school district superintendent, principal, director of special education and teacher as well as a highly successful student – all of whom have moved to an online program from the traditional brick-and-mortar public high school environment.
