Why did Janice Thibodeaux try to strangle Simon Cowell’s ex-girlfriend Terri Seymour?
According to Radaronline.com, who talked exclusively to the attacker behind bars, she was doing it for revenge.
She watched Simon jokingly choke fellow judge Paula Abdul during Tuesday’s show .
And she didn’t much like it.
“I wasn’t cool with Simon Cowell choking Paula Abdul on the show last week and with her crying-out ‘help’ as he did so,” Thibodeaux said. “Nobody said anything about that, so I wanted to confront him about it because that is not appropriate behavior, is it?”
When the Idol-fan Thibodeux, 33, saw Cowell’s former girlfriend, she decided to confront her about the strangulation of poor Paula.
They talked, started arguing and then the 200-pound self-described former security guard put her hands around Terri's neck and started choking. She was swiftly tackled by the cops. She says: "I don’t regret what I did because of what Simon did to Paula, nobody seemed to care about that.”
No word from Paula about thanking this total stranger for standing up to Simon for choking her.
"I want to make it perfectly clear to everyone that I have never been addicted to or abused drugs in my life," Abdul's statement says. "I have never been drunk. I have never entered a rehab or detox treatment center. I spent time hiking, bicycling, doing yoga and enjoying the spa. As anyone who has visited the La Costa Resort knows, it is a luxury hotel, not a rehab facility."
And she says she spent three days there, not 30, like the article stated.
On the radio this week Paula admitted going to the La Costa Resort but said, "I just wanted to chill out and get messages and maybe a manicure and pedicure.”
Really? Because in the LHJ story, Paula talks about going through withdrawal alone at the spa.
“I could have killed myself…. Withdrawal — it’s the worst thing. I was freezing cold, then sweating hot, then chattering and in so much pain, it was excruciating. But at my very core, I did not like existing the way I had been,” she told LJH.
The magazine said in a statement, “We stand by our reporting and are happy that Paula decided to share her journey with us.”
Who ya gonna believe? The reputable women's mag or the mani-pedi massage-loving spa-goer?
Paula Abdul, who has a long history of bizarre behavior on-air and off, has long denied reports of any drug or alcohol abuse. She even told Cynthia McFadden two weeks ago on "Nightline" that she never abused prescription drugs.
Now she's apparently completely changed her tune. "American Idol" fans, should this come as a shockeroo?
In the June issue of Ladies Home Journal, she reveals her struggle to kick a secret, 12-year painkiller habit, though she says she never shot an "Idol" episode under the influence.
In pain after a series of injuries, the self-professed "old-school professional" turned to a combination of painkillers and Chinese medicine, the article says, to get her through her grueling dance routines on tour.
Then in 2005, she was diagnosed with reflex
sympathetic dystrophy syndrome. The chronic illness causes disabling pain, teeth-chattering and
shingles-like lesions. To help combat the pain, the article says, Paula wore a patch that delivered a pain
medication about 80 times more potent than morphine and took a nerve
medication to relieve her symptoms.
And sometimes she took a muscle
relaxer too. And OK, sometimes that wouldn't work either, and she couldn't sleep at all. And sometimes the combination of all those things made her "get weird" on the air. Yeah, no kidding.
Last
Thanksgiving, Paula checked
into the La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, Calif., to get off the stuff.
Says Paula: “I could have killed myself…. Withdrawal
– it’s the worst thing. I was freezing cold, then sweating hot, then
chattering and in so much pain, it was excruciating. But at my very
core, I did not like existing the way I had been.”
Glad you made it, Paula. Congrats. But we'll kind of miss those funny out-there Paula moments.
Does Paula Abdul -- whose stalker Paula Goodspeed killed herself in front of the "American Idol" judge's home -- have any advice for "Dancing With the Stars" contestant Shawn Johnson?
The Olympic champ's alleged stalker was arrested last week after trying to sneak onto the "DWTS" set and had two loaded firearms in his car!
"She's got to stay close to her family," Paula explained on the carpet at the Kids' Choice Awards on Sunday. "It's very unnerving and off-putting, I am certain.
"It's scary and I've been through it. Just keep the faith and stay close to your family and remember security knows best."
Stalker survival tips were much appreciated. Let's hope Paula doesn't try to give Shawn any fashion tips.
"These are all my clothes," "American Idol" judge Paula Abdul explained (ah, now it makes sense) of her silver tank, sheer mesh layer, jeans, bird roadkill pinned in her hair, an overabundance of silver chains and black fishnet fingerless gloves.
"There are lots of designers on me today. Oh, and these are Chanel sleeves."
Whose is Paula's "Idol" pick?
"I have lots of them. First week, remember I said 'Danny Gokey and Adam Lambert, I'll see you in the finals!' But it's anyone's game," she said, adding, "Allison Iraheta's great." (Note: Allison was misspelled as Alison in an earlier version of this post.)
What do you think of Paula's "Idol" winner choices? Who's yours?
Forget Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul'sratings-boosting bickering.
Get ready for a media catfight between "American Idol" judges Kara DioGuardi and Paula Abdul.
After Paula said she didn’t think four judges was such a good idea, the new fourth judge -- and her former roommate -- DioGuardi, fired back.
“Paula has a right to her opinions, but I was disappointed by her comments, and hurt that she did not address them to me in person,” Kara tells "Access Hollywood."
In an interview with OK!, Paula said while she “gets along great” with Kara, she doesn’t think adding a new judge helped the show.
“We tried four judges before, and it doesn’t work. It takes up so much time for each of us to give our opinion that it slows down the pace of the show,” Paula said.
Nevertheless, Kara is standing strong: “I am proud of my contributions to the show and remain excited about the rest of the season,” Kara told "Access."
“Paula’s quote was taken out of context,” Paula’s rep now says. “She was referring to previous ‘guest judges’ from past seasons. Not Kara.”
Right. Of course she was.
Oh, we can only hope this sniping carries on to the actual show.
We need a little hissy fit to spice things up. And it's so good for the ratings. Pfft-pfft!
What do you think of the fourth judge? Does she really help the show?
And couldn't they have picked a blond to make her less threatening to poor Paula?
Want some behind-the-scenes scoop from the Grammy Style Studio?
"TV Guide" red-carpet hostess Lisa Rinna and stylist Jennifer Rade were looking ahead and picked out potential Oscar gowns from Halston this weekend. Lisa fell in love with a black gown. “I’ve got to wear this to the Oscars,” said the "TV Guide" hostess.
Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush found a pair of K-Swiss sneakers he loved and decided that would be his look for the red carpet on Sunday. Move over, K-Swiss spokesmodel Ed Westwick ("Gossip Girl"). Billy is angling for your gig.
"Idol" judge Paula Abdul also fell in love with a Roberto Cavalli snake bracelet watch. Which means that we'll probably be seeing it on a carpet sooner rather than later. After she tried it on, she didn’t take it off and wore it home. Stars can get away with that.
Sheryl Crow found Aussie couture designer Toni Maticevski to be the perfect fit. “His designs are so unique," said Crow. "Really unusual but irresistible –- his work is really great.”
Jack Black headed straight for several Ben Sherman hats then stocked up on Worn Free T-shirts.
Other WF fans include Keith Urban, Eddie Vedder, Common, Ellen Page, Jennifer Aniston, Eva Mendes. Randy Jackson and Paula have even worn the Ts on “American Idol.”
Because you can never have enough black thongs on Grammy night, Kristin Cavallari snapped up sexy black sheer thongs from La Perla.
Fergie’s stylist was one of the first into the Grammy Style Suite, pulling leather pieces from Grai Leather.
Fergie even wore Grai to the Black Eyed Peas annual fundraising concert on Thursday night.
Another hot new denim line was discovered at the Style Studio -- brand DL1961: Blake Lively loves the wide leg. Miley Cyrus prefers the skinny style, which she wears with boots. Rihana and Demi Lovato love the skinny ones too.
Emily Blunt went crazy about two Lebanese designers, Basil Soda and Georges Hobeika, choosing five gowns (from each designer!) to wear to the BAFTAs and the Oscars.
“I’ve seen nothing like this in a long time –- I love it!” Blunt enthused.
Check back later today for breaking Grammy red-carpet news!

The Dish Rag caught up with"American Idol" judge Paula Abdul last night at Clive Davis' annual pre-Grammy bash.
We got the scoop on her strapless satin printed cocktail dress, who she's wearing to tonight's Grammy Awards and some hints about the new season of "American Idol."
Paula predicts a guy will win this season! You read it here first.
Oh, and she also revealed how Dr. Evil, er, Simon Cowell, really felt about the show's new judge.
But we didn't ask her about her cougar rep for dating younger men. Maybe next time.
DR: You went to the Grammy Style Suite and discovered his designs there?
PA: Yes! His dresses are phenomenal.
DR: what are you wearing tomorrow?
PA: Believe it or not, it’s another Basil Soda dress, but it’s a gown and it’s really beautiful.
DR: How about "American Idol" this season –- how's it going?
PA: Good. It’s going to be a colorful season. Lots of fun. And seriously great singers too. But I think a guy is going to win -– there are more guys than girls. There are a handful of great girls, but the guys are really great.
DR: What’s it like having an extra body, Kara DioGuardi, on the judging panel?
PA: Oh, well, she was my roommate 10 years ago -– she was my best roommate. None of them (the other judges) ever thought that could happen. I think it bugged Simon the most.
Check back with the Dish Rag later today for the latest news on who's wearing what -- and why -- to tonight's Grammy Awards. We'll bring you the latest scoop from the red carpet on who looks fab and who should be fined.
David Letterman knows a little bit about stalkers.
That's why he advisedPaula Abdul to sue the "American Idol" producers -- and Fox, while she's at it -- for putting her known stalker, Paula Goodstone, on the show a few years ago for entertainment value.
Goodstone committed suicide outside Abdul's house a few weeks ago.
Do you agree with Dave? Should she sue the heck out of Fox and AI? Would you?
Paula Abdulblames “American Idol” producers for allowing known stalker Paula Goodspeed to get too close to her, according to People.com.
Abdul says she told them that Goodspeed had been stalking her for years, but they still brought her in to audition on the show.
People reports that Abdul, in a Sirius XM radio interview on "Barbara Live!" with Barbara Walters on Monday night, said she begged producers not to let Goodspeed audition for Season 5.
"She had been writing disturbing letters for 17 years, almost 18 years," Abdul, 46, told Walters. "We had restraining orders at times."
On the day of Goodspeed's audition, "Idol" producers told Abdul they had found — and were about to bring in — a fan who was "crazy about" Paula.
Abdul objected. "I said, 'This girl is a stalker of mine. Please do not let her in.' Everyone knew. I was shaking."
The producers ignored her, saying that they wanted the "entertainment value."
Abdul also claimed that Goodspeed showed up at auditions in Las Vegas and tried out for Season 6. After an audition, Goodspeed was able to follow Abdul home and get her home address.
From then on, Goodspeed sent naked pictures of herself to Abdul and threatened her with "bodily harm" in some letters.
"She said the only way I will serve her purpose is when I'm up in heaven being her guardian angel."
OMG, scary! So why is Paula still on “American Idol”?
Paula Abdulhasn't spent a single night in her home since Paula Goodspeed committed suicide outside it.
And she's putting the house up for sale.
"I've been staying in different homes and hotels, and I have security with me," she tells People. "I am in the process of looking for another place to reside.
"It was very tragic and very upsetting to hear," Abdul says of the death of Goodspeed, a fan who was insulted by Simon Cowell when she auditioned for "American Idol's" fifth season.
"She had tried to do this before, and it was just heartbreaking ... It was in the middle of Hollywood week, and it happened while I was actually working at the Kodak Theatre, and it was devastating to hear."
While producers were told shortly after police discovered Goodspeed's body, no one told Abdul until after they had finished taping for the day.
Abdul has been told not to talk about Goodspeed’s obsession with her, given the ongoing police investigation.
"I'd love to tell you so much more," she says in People, "but I'm holding my tongue."
Do you blame her for not wanting to return to her home? And for selling it?
Is Paula Abdul so freaked by the apparent suicide of obsessive fan/"AI" reject Paula Goodspeed near her home that she's thinking of leaving the show?
OK reports that Paula Abdul, 45, is hoping to transition out of "American Idol" and into a new TV project.
An insider explains, “Paula knows that every season could be her last. Now she’s got a new secret venture that she’s really excited about.”
And with the new "fourth judge" Kara DioGuardi — Paula's old roommate — coming on for the eighth season (which begins Jan. 13), Paula's seat will already be filled.
But has Paula also been affected by the apparent suicide of stalker Goodspeed?
Eerily, Abdul got flowers last week with a note signed, "Love, J.T." and the message, "Hope you're doing great. Here's my new cell number."
She thought the buds were from boyfriend J.T. Torregiani.
She called him asking why he had changed his number, a source close to Abdul told People.
When he had no idea what she was talking, Abdul knew they were sent by ex-"American Idol "contestant Paula Goodspeed.
Over the last three years, Abdul's camps says she has received more than 100 letters and numerous phone calls and uninvited visits from Goodspeed.
"The flower thing was really scary — Paula [Abdul] really couldn't handle that. She was terrified," the source tells People.
BTW, Goodspeed's real name is Sandra. She changed it to Paula about 16 years ago.
But her family says that it didn’t have anything to do with Paula Abdul and that she just liked the name.
Right.
Would you blame Paula for leaving "AI"? Should she? Has the show lost its magic? Has it become too cruel and vicious to contestants?
The dead body of a woman was found in a car just yards from Paula Abdul’s house.
Tuesday, police told TMZ it may have been a drug overdose/suicide.
And it may be a woman who was obsessed with the "American Idol" judge.
Police sources told TMZ that they think the victim had stalked Abdul and said police had been to the house "numerous times before" to deal with her.
Paula's people tell TMZ they do know who the woman is.
Apparently, the Ventura County Sheriff's Department was called by the victim's parents at 3 p.m. Tuesday.
They told police that their daughter was missing and that she "had an unnatural obsession" with Paula and they might want to check the “American Idol” judge's home.
Paula Abdul may be burning her bridges over at the Today Show. She was supposed to perform her single "Dance Like There's No Tomorrow" on the morning show's concert series in April. But she bailed because of "production commitments" and reskedded for August 29.
But last Friday, she canceled that show as well, because of "'American Idol' commitments."
Stage fright? Or perhaps fear of looking/sounding like Ashlee Simpson on "Saturday Night Live?"
One source told the New York Post, "Please. She can't perform live. Her voice on the single is so mixed and electronicized you don't know what she really sounds like any more."
Wait, you mean Paula wasn't really singing at her Superbowl pregame so-called LIVE performance in the above video clip.
Watch it and tell us what you think. We can't be sure if she's really singing or not but she sure does do a mean microphone wrestle.
