Can baby-face Taylor Lautner pull off a bigger, bulkier, older Jacob in “New Moon?”
"Jacob is a totally different character in "New Moon," Melissa Rosenberg, the screenwriter of both "Twilight" films, tells EW. "He's a foot taller and huge -– and he's supposed to look 25. It's really a question of whether or not the same actor can play the role."
We may find out this week. And no one would be happier about the actor staying on than Taylor, age 16. He told MTV recently that he’s been working out to gain 19 lbs. And he's got 10 more to go!
Yeah, and 10 more years.
Kristen Stewart will definitely be back as Bella Swan, and Robert Pattinson, 22, will reprise his role as Edward Cullen. The sequel will be directed by Chris Weitz and released Nov. 20.
In a People magazine poll, readers chose Lautner to stay rather than a suggested alternative, Michael Copon, 26, in the more mature role.

It's entirely up to the director, Chris Weitz. Nobody else's opinion matters in this case.

I agree with Myckie. However, Taylor is not right for the part and no amount of bulking up is going to make him perfect for the role. Too bad the casting director didn't think about this in the beginning.

well i WANT taylor lautner as jacob black i dont think any1 else will do better at his role then taylor. and y would u chance him if u put him in the first movie tht stupid alot of girls are goin to watch the movie cuz of him and im one of them so i really hope tht u dont chance him cuz iwill be really pissed out if they did i really like him as jacob y dont u just put make-up on him like u r doin to edward itz nothin new lmost every movie putz make up on there actors y dont u do tht him getting bigger just for the movies and aim the camera so it would look like his really tall there is alot of things u can do but please im begging u dont chance taylor lautner as jacob black his the hott jacob black u will ever find please dont chance him nobody watz Michael Copon as jacob black they wat TAYLOR LAUTNER im in love with him and if u wat to see look at myspace because he is all over it

Thats A no Brainer!! Of Course Taylor Should stay, Especially when it comes down between him and Michael Copon. Atleast if came down to Steven Strait and Taylor Lautner It would have been a little more competition for the role. We all grew to love Jacob Black and Taylor Lautner made Jacob come to life. I couldn't imagine another person playing Jacob! Could anyone Imagine another Edward??...NO! Taylor needs to Stay, and Hopefully Chris will make the right choice

The movie needs the fan support to succeed and do well and the majority of the fans want taylor. Ya the decision is up to the director but the fans opinions should count for something in this case since the ONLY reason twilight was a success was because of the fans.
I know fans shouldn't be considered for a lot of things but in this case I think they should count. plus the cast wants him back too.
Give Taylor a chance.

i deff think Taylor should stay a jacob i think he makes a really good jacob :) if they change him im deff not watching it ... who cares if he dosent look the part right neather dose the chick who plays Alice shes supost to be way shorter all tho i do like her as Alice to but still change him then u should change her as well....

I hope not. I hope they find another actor to do Jacob in New Moon. I love the books and the book has a man spelled MAN that looks 26 years old. The whole dynamic between Bella and then Edward would not be served with a 16 year old kid. Let this kid play something else to get his fan base tickled about but not New Moon. Please.

They should definitely keep Taylor! You can't introduce a character into such a huge roll, sell t-shirts and posters of him, have the fans, fall in love with him and then change the character in the middle of the series. It's just not going to work. When people think of Jacob Black, they see Taylor Lautner's face. I personally don't think the size of him is as huge of a deal as much as his ability to bring Jacob's character and personality to the screen as close to Stephanie's description as possible, which I think Taylor has already done. The movie was such a success because of the huge fan base, and if they want to keep the fans happy and have New Moon do as well as Twilight, I think their best bet is to keep Jacob. If they try to change the actor it will make a lot of people unhappy. Better to stick with the actors that made Twilight such a success! In this debate I'm team Taylor!!! I'm rooting for you Taylor!!!

Sorry Taylor, they need a new, older actor to play Jacob in New Moon. Having read the book several times, I don't see how Taylor can realistically portray Jacob as that character evolves.

Taylor should stay. End of story. They obviously won't change Rob, so Talyor is the freakin best thing that happened to Twilight. Removing him would make the movie a pile of poo.

Its not about taylor, its about jacob. Jacob becomes bigger and im sorry but they need to dump him and get Michael. Michael Copon is way hotter anyways. Plus he's bigger and older then taylor. They have to go by the book not by what stupid tween girls want. You can say you wont watch twilight anymore if taylor isnt in it but, im sure they will make PLENTY of money anyways.

If they kept Lautner, that would be great. They don't need to follow the book SO close. Maybe he could get to be 6 feet instead and maybe look 22..with all the cgi, make up and special FX out there, they should be able to make it happen.
If they switched actors, it wouldn't be the end of the world either. I'd still see the film.

ok so i think that whoever casted Taylor was not thinking straight how could you not put into consideration new moon and the growth spurt?stupid!!!!but anyways i love Taylor and i think it would be strange not to have him play Jacob he put the face to the character changing him would also be like changing any of the culllens and bella herself it just would NOT work!If they can make Brad pitt look 100 years old like in Benjamin Button then they can figure out away to make Taylor look 6'5 n 25! make him scruffy or somwthing!so i guess you know my outtake my answer is NO!lol

They need to keep Jacob. As you can tell from these comments for the most part, twilight fans don't except change very well. We get very attached to the people playing our beloved characters and we want to see them doing well. We also want the best for these movies and I absolutely think that that is Taylor. He has been working so hard promoting twilight and bulking up to play Jake again in new moon. I mean he has gained 19 pounds of muscle already! It's not fair to him to just pull the rug out from under him like they are doing.
