VIDEO: Ann Coulter blames single mothers for all social ills? Really?

Did you miss Ann Coulter on this morning's "The Today Show?"

Here's your chance to watch her sputter and spew through Matt Lauer's questions.

Did she say "The mainstream liberal media hates conservative?" "I didn't say that," she insisted.

But stop talking about how she wasn't banned for life from the show. Jeepers. She really, really, really wants to talk about her book, Matt!

Hold on. Single motherhood is her main cause for all our society's problems?

Huh. You mean, like former Republican VP nominee Alaskan Gov. Sarah Palin's unwed daughter, Bristol Palin?

What do you think of Coulter's 'performance?' Is she correct or just plain bananas?

More Coulter:

Ann Coulter did not get replaced by Perez Hilton. Darn it.

Ann Coulter's jaw wired shut? We're so sad...

Ann Coulter is glad newspapers are dying...

Ann Coulter is tired. She obviously writes her trashy books for shock value. We aren't shocked anymore. Maybe if she streaked across our screens we would really be shocked. Short of that, she is tired and boring. She stinks and this is my last comment about this non-factor person forever.

I am appalled at her comment about her comment that single motherhood is ther main cause for all our society's problems. I am a single mom and have many friends who are single moms. If there is any main cause it is the lack of our government to protect single moms and their children. A day doesn't go by which I don't hear a single mom say she has a problem getting child support owed or that the children's father is too busy to spend time with his children because of his new girlfriend or life. This seems to be the rule versus the exception. If men were forced to take care of their responsibilities, single moms would have to work 2/3 jobs. Children would be able to go to college and get an education, etc.

Actually, she didn't blame single mothers - she blamed single motherhood.

Of course, if you were educated in a public school, you wouldn't know there was a difference.

I JUST WANT TO SAY SHE HAS NO CLUE WHAT SHE IS TALKING ABOUT I MYSELF AM A SINGLE MOTHER AND I AM VERY SATISFIED AND WELL EDUCATED NO PROBLEMS HERE EXCEPT TRYING TO RECIEVE CHILDSUPPORT SO SCREW YOU AND YOUR THEORIES

If you'd pay attention for 30 seconds, what she actually said was that our culture and media glorifying single motherhood is what is destroying society. She does not blame single mothers themselves, they are victims of the Left's psychology impressed upon them which forbids teaching young girls that life is generally easier when sex comes AFTER marriage, and instead tells them that all sex is always ok and consequence free. But no, focus on your irrational hatred of everything you like to PRETEND Coulter said. For the sake of the kids, we should be doing everything in our power to make single motherhood MORE difficult, because that might actually deter and prevent it. "Protecting single mothers" isn't in the constitution, and bilking taxpayers for every stupid sexual escapade is unfair.

I wish Ann Coulter would just go away-
she's the most annoying, awful woman-
She's despicable...

Is that tired old bag running around again peddling her "book".Why are they even interviewing that harridan. She is so OVER like Bush. I turn the TV off or change the channel everytime I see Josephine Goebels and her chicken legs.

Well, let me say here that All Coulter is stupid and silly. She is more of a problem to society then she thinks single mothers are. I do have my own problems with single motherhood but I'm not sure I see it entirely as this idiot does. When it comes to her arrogance toward democrats, she can't get any sillier then. Now everyone is just as dumb and stupid for having listened to her rubbish.

Not all single mothers are unwed, teenage mothers. I was married for three years before my husband decided he didn't want to be married anymore. He wanted to go explore his sexual tension with a co-worker. Divorce left me to be a single mother. Why aren't men being accused of anything? It takes two to tango. Obviously single-motherhood isn't some craze of immaculate conception. I also don't think single-motherhood can be to blame. My mom was a divorced, single mother. We turned out fine. And I'm sure a lot of people in prison came from two parent households. Ann Coulter just wants to stir up controversy because she's tired and depressed with her own sad life.

I live in a School District which includes an urban mecca for the consumers of social services. The School District is mandated to provide many services to "coddle" children of low income Blacks and Latino/Hispanics (many of whom are undocumented except for their school ID).

The U.S. Census Bureau has estimated that 58.5% of the births in that part of the district were from unmarried women in 2007, so we already know that we need to tax property owners an additional $6 million dollars per year so these 382 little bas---ds can enter kindergarten (full-day K is subsidized day care disguised as education.) in 2012. My property taxes just for the School district are over 10% of my retirement income. My school taxes have increased over 60% since 2000 to address this problem.

Truly, Ann Coulter is a piece of work. You'll notice that she had no response to Matt's valid question about tone. And her childish use of Obama's middle name is nothing short of a bullying tactic, common amongst her ilk. Rush, I'm lookin' at you. She may have a point, but it will only be believed by the most partisan and easily-swayed of our Public. She has certainly made her mint, but noone's ever gonna give her an award for her thoughtful personna.

Ann is right. Obama didnt have to answer anything except how his mom, or his grandmother would feel. Yeah, im sure they would be proud, but there are more important questions that he should have been asked.

Bottom line is that when it comes to single mother hood or single parents--- a majority of criminal ills arise from broken families. The facts prove it. 20 minutes doing simple web search will prove it and if Mr. Lauer would shut up and quit worring about the "tone" of her book he would understand. The destruction of the American family by the courts is mostly to blame.

I recently reviewed much of the same literature about broken families and single mothers. Single mothers cost the American taxpayer $112 Billion dollars every year.
The Georgia Family Council and Institute for American Values published “The Taxpayer Costs of Divorce and Unwed Childbearing” in 2008. Their conclusion on page 5 is, “Based on the methodology, we estimate that family fragmentation costs U.S. taxpayers at least $112 billion each and every year, or more than $1 trillion each decade.”

That doesn’t include the private lawyer costs during divorce. Child and spousal support are just private welfare payments. When single mothers stop whining about entitlements and start earning their own way in life, they might understand how correct Ann is on this one point.

Ann is a money mongering fear spewer!

She's right about single motherhood being a costly social ill. If you logically deficient women would refrain from taking what she said personally, ignore her acerbic demeanor and actually take a look at some statistics, you'd realize that two-parent families do better on average. That's not to say that single mothers are bad parents or immoral. It's just that on a whole, single parenthood is bad for the country. So, get over it. It's not our fault you screwed the wrong guy and got pregnant, and frankly, the rest of us shouldn't be forced to pay for it.

This is bull... this woman has no idea what she is talking about. So it would be better to raise a child in a home with a mother and a father who beat each other than to raise them in a single-parent home? She obviously needs her mouth taped shut, cause all I hear is blahblahblah! I'm a single mother and I think I am doing a better job than what you could ever do!

This interview doesn't even come close to making her case as Ann does in her book.

But, the gist of the message is sound. Single motherhood is less ideal, for the childs sake and society, than the nuclear family.

Ann doesn't say all single mothers are rotten people or incapable of raising a child effectively. Instead, she traces many common problems in society back to single motherhood. These problems have grown as we have moved away from the nuclear family. Ann also traces the court cases and decisions that helped degrade the institution of marriage.

Just because one doesn't like the messenger doesn't mean the message is wrong.

It would help if the critics actually addressed her argument(s) instead of just unconvincing ad hominem attacks.

As far as her performance, I thought it was spot on. She's too smart for Lauer. I noticed he ducked the main arguments and played the "gotcha" and "isn't that outrageous" game.

Her interview with Joy Behar was even better; as Behar too is no match for Ann.

Ann makes a great point, however misdirected. The societal problems she is referring to are not caused by single mothers, but they are caused by single women who have casual sex recklessly. Rather than condemning single mothers who have already made the mistake of bringing children into the world without the tools necessary to provide that child a healthy upbringing, why not encourage single women to prevent themselves from being used by men who want casual sex. Men and women are not equal when it comes to casual sex. Women are the ones with such a high price to pay while men have the option to hit and run. Meanwhile children are a result of reckless casual sex and they tend to suffer b/c of the single mother who made the mistake of allowing herself to become vulnerable to pregnancy. The focus should be on empowering single women by educating them to be smart enough to be the victim of a hit and run douche bag guy that just wants casual sex. He can escape the consequences, but unfortunately women and children cannot.
