Macaulay Culkin's sister, Dakota, killed by car
"Home Alone" child star Macaulay Culkin's sister died Wednesday after being struck by a car.
According to TMZ, law enforcement sources say that Dakota Culkin was walking on Los Angeles' Westside on Tuesday when she stepped off a curb and was struck by a car.
Macaulay's rep says: "We can officially confirm that the victim is Dakota Culkin. This is a terrible tragic accident. We have no further comment at this time."
The 29-year-old Culkin was taken to the UCLA Medical Center, where she died of her injuries Wednesday afternoon.
So far, no arrests have been made in the case, which is under investigation by the LAPD.
I have no words. This is terrible, terrible news.
And I hate to bring this up, but this is the third actor who has lost a family member violently in recent weeks.
First, Jennifer Hudson's brother, mother and nephew; then Mark Ruffalo's brother, Scott; now McCauley Culkin's sister, Dakota.
Creepy. And very sad.

Oh my goodness! A relative of a celebrity died!
While I don't like to see anyone die, I fail to see the same reaction "this is terrible, terrible news." over the 55 innocent people blown up by terrorists in Iraq recently.
Can LA be any more vapid?

I'm SO sorry for the family. My thoughts and prayers are with all the Culkins.

By any chance did this happen on Sunset in front of the Hyatt in West Hollywood last night around 9 PM? I was driving by and saw 11 police cars, an ambulance and fire truck, and someone on a stretcher on the sidewalk but it didn't seem to be a car accident.
There is no intersection there and she could have been crossing a very busy street in the club zone.
Very sad. Tragic all these celebrity siblings at once.

Buzz's girlfriend, YUCK!

Sane Man (and that is debatable), I would have the same reaction if it was my neighbor next door. Was is so vapid about feeling sorry for the family just because they are celebrities? It doesn't mean that we feel any less remorse for the people in Iraq. I am sorry for the family...and for the others who have lost their family members in such tragic ways.

That's just terrible! What a sad, sad story.

Cars are the one of the biggest killers we have, and yet no one does or cares anything about it. If one person dies of a misquito bite, it makes national news. Our media sucks.

It is a very sad thing now at this time of the year.
This family will not celebrate Christmas or New Year's.
She was so young and full of life.

This is a terrible story especially at this time of the year. She was so young and full of life.

I'll save my sympathies until the medical examiner releases the toxicology report. Normal, unimpaired people do not just walk in front of moving cars in 2008. This is not 1906 when people didn't know any better.

Cars don't kill people. Pedestrians have rights. Unfortunately, cars are bigger than pedestrians.
R.I.P Dakota. Where you're going, there will be only foot traffic.

Sane Man - what an idiot you are. It doesn't matter what someone does - or does not - do; the loss of someone you love, whether celebrity or otherwise, is a terrible tragedy - nor does it matter whether they are American or not. I didn't know who the girl was, nor am I a fan of her family members; however, that does not belie the fact that this is a horrible thing to happen, no matter who they are, and if I read about your family member suffering the same fate - whomever the he** you are - I'd feel bad for you, as well.
Self-involved piece of ca-ca, obviously.

Joe Gideon - so let me get this straight, if she had a beer or popped a pill she got what she deserved??? Apparently you don't have much in the brain department and hopefully no children...

I am so sorry for your loss. Nobody knows why these things happen, and I know that nothing can be said to give you absolute comfort, but I will pray for you and your family.

Dakota Culkin was my third cousin once removed, or fourth cousin, depending on how you classify the relation. Her mother married a relative of my great-grandmother. I'd never met her before, but the news of her death really affected me. I cried. I cried because I'd never get to meet a family member, and because I had to hear about it on television. My heart is with family I've never seen before. My heart is with Macaulay and his mother, and with Mila. Please don't let this dampen any future wedding plans.

weho19.....another news source said she was coming out of Brennans Bar on Lincoln Blvd. in Marina Del Rey. That part of Lincoln is insanely busy. She must have been j-walking since they didn't fault the driver.
That bar is just a couple blocks away from Centinella Freeman Medical Center. Interesting that the ambulance chose UCLA hospital which is about 5 miles from the accident scene.

As if this family has not had enough tragedy in their lives already.
Sympathy.

PEOPLE :"J-WALK ALL OF THE
TIME " IN THIS COUNTRY THE
LAST TWO DECADES MORE THAN
EVER BEFORE AND HAVE EARPHONES ON OR NOT AND ZONE OUT AND DON'T LOOK BOTH WAYS-AND "ESPECIALLY THE ILLEGALS-"J-WALK" !-BUT IT
DOES NOT MEAN THEY DESERVE TO BE KILLED AND DIE ! BUT IF THE MOTORIST WAS NOT NEGLIGENT THEY DON'T DESERVE TO BE SUED OR GO TO JAIL-ANOTHER :'ILLEGALS SCAM"-LIKE STAGING ACCIDENTS WITH CARS AND BIG RIG TRUCKS TO GET YOUR INSURANCE MONEY AND THEY ARE WILLING TO BE INJURED OR KILLED-TAKING THAT RISK !

BUT INSTEAD WE ARE BECOMING MORE AND MORE "BARBARIC"-EATING LIVE ANIMALS AND "PALIN-MOOSE STEW" !
