Report: Ex-lover on Amy Winehouse's darkest days

Ex-lover Alex Haines tells what went on in Amy’s dark days of drug abuse and sex addiction to News of the World. And he adds charming details like when she was done with her morning crack, she'd scrape the remnants out of the pipe with a screwdriver. Geez, real lovely.

“When Amy woke up the first thing she’d ask was, ‘Where’s my pipe?’ She often made crack pipes by putting foil on top of plastic bottles and then burning the drug. When Amy ran out of the drug she would cut the bottle in half and sit there on the floor completely wired, scraping the inside to get the residue with a screwdriver. She had to have a heroin and crack pipe near her or she freaked out. She’d keep taking drugs until she passed out. I reckon she spent £3,500 a week on them.”

Worse than her drug addiction is, apparently, her taste in men. Her former lover Alex details their intimate sex life: “It was like having my own little porn star. Amy was so dirty — she wanted sex all the time. We did it four or five times a day and she’d even wake me up for it. She was addicted to sex like she was to drugs.”

And he also reveals that Amy used his toothbrush to make herself throw up all the junk food she ate after her drug binges.

“Amy suffered from bulimia, which is why she looked so thin. She would have a massive McDonalds and then throw it all up in the bathroom. I found my toothbrush covered in sick, and asked her about it. She went really sheepish but told me she suffered from it for a long time. Several times I went into her bathroom and saw sick all over the sink. She lived off Crunchie bars — up to 10 at a time — packets of Haribo sweets and bottles of orange Lucozade Sport. Her heroin problems made her crave sugar.”

And also according to the report, blood-letting was a daily, if not hourly, event.

“It was my job to look after her. But it was impossible,” Alex tells the British tabloid. “I thought she wouldn’t survive the year with all the drugs and self-harming. Cutting herself was her favourite pastime.”

According to Alex, whom Amy dumped when her drug addict husband got out of prison, Amy is trying to gain access to what she calls "The 27 Club," whose members include Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, Brian Jones and Kurt Cobain, all dead at 27.

I’d say if she doesn't get the help we all so want her to seek that she's got a darn good shot of membership.

When the Grammys voters give out awards they should imagine that artist still working 5-10 years into the future. Amy is done. Why would anyone want to hire her or trust her to work again? Natalie Cole was chastised for her criticism but I'm with Natalie....Amy is another "blah" Brit singer, druggie, that gets her fame from blinded Americans.
