Charles Barkley arrested on suspicion of DUI?

Barkley_mug_entblog_photo33 Looks like retired basketball star and Olympic gold-medal winner Charles Barkley started celebrating New Year's Eve a little early.

And maybe a little too hard.

According to Associated Press, the basketball star -- named as one of the 50 greatest players in NBA history --  was popped in Arizona last night on suspicion of DUI.

He was stopped at - are you ready - a DUI checkpoint! Geez.

His blood was tested on the scene. Barkley was later released and went home in a taxi.

You can check out photos from the arrest scene over at TMZ.

And from the looks of this mugshot, he was definitely sweating the whole ordeal.

You may remember that, throughout his career, Barkley was vocal about how sports stars should not be considered role models.

You got that right, Chuck!

LOL Hilarious. Someone get that man a fan

The cops must be racist too?

Charles has always lived a bit on the edge. Ocassionally we have seen signs that he might push it to hard. He is in a position of responsibility and role model... like it or not! He needs to grow up! He is no longer a kid.

It has nothing to do with racism... Eveything to do with maturity. I am Black and a fan. However the truth sometimes hurts. Racism is real, but we do a disservice to correcting it when we hide mistakes behind it.

Even if stopped, it is not DUI unless drunk! Best wishes Charles!

I haven't seen this much sweat since the last Mayor Barry news conference....did they test for other substances?

Charles has such a big mouth. No wonder he drinks and drive. Idiot.

Officers cannot test your blood "at the scene." They are not qualified to stick a syringe in someone's arm, let alone actually test the blood. Secondly, there were no DUI checkpoints set up in Scottsdale the night when Charles was stopped. He was stopped for not stopping at a Stop sign. Geez. Get your facts straight before getting snarky.
