Watch Jack Black as Jesus in 'Prop 8: the Musical'
Jack Black as Jesus? Perfect casting.
Black, Neil Patrick Harris, Allison Janney, Rashida Jones, John C. Reilly, "SNL's" Maya Rudolph and other stars take on Proposition 8 on funnyordie.com, the folks that gave us those much-needed comic relief Paris Hilton political videos during election season.
The final premise? Gay marriage will save the economy.
What do you think? Do they have a point?
Could gay-marriage revenues help save California's sinking economy?
Quick, somebody call Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger!

Total lies. Of course, they try to apply the old law to Christianity.
I say we blacklist every single actor in that video. Simple, if they are in a movie refuse to see it!

1) All of Leviticus is the old law. They are just pointing it out!
2) Why don't we blacklist Thomas S. Monson. That would more appropriate!

I am always amused but flabbergasted by Bible-thumpers who pick and choose which parts of the Bible they choose to believe in. This skits nails that particular example of hypocrisy:
Approved
Slavery
Forbidden
Same-Sex Marriage.
The Bible was used by slaveholders in the South to condone slavery, or is that one of those inconvenient facts that church ladies choose to ignore?
What say we vote on bringing back slavery? After all, God apparently approves of it (the Bible says so), and there's big $$$ to be made selling your daughters to the highest bidders.

I can not beleve how mindless some people are. This is the United States of America, and is governed by the Constitution, which clearly states that religion and government MUST remain seperate.
If the goverment must remain seprate from the church then the church has no right to use the Bible as plausable proof that gay and lesbian people should not get married.
REMEMBER: GOD MAY RULE A RELIGION, BUT GOD DOSE NOT RULE THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
The constitution clearly states that.

Uhh ... let's not blackmail people, okay?
After all, this was made for amusement and humor, and you must realize that all things humorous tend to make fun of other things. Even the Bible.

Blacklisting? are you kidding me? It really scares me that we still have this kind of thinking in the world. And as far as the old testament being "old law," well in that case lets just throw out the entire old testament then. Why not just say the 10 commandments is "old law" too?

Let's save marriage by outlawing divorce. Would give new meaning to "till death do us part."
Posted by: Keoni | December 04, 2008 at 09:17 AM
there are 2 pieces of government information i could use to disprove Prop 8.
1. seperation of church and state, established when the country was for the SOLE purpse of stuff like this and for religious freedom and so on
2. and i don't know if anyone has thought about this but Brown vs. Board of Education during the Civil Rights movement, this is the supreme court ruling that declared separate but equal is not constitutional. Isn't that what this is? I mean they're trying to keep gays from the rights that straight people do have and now they're saying give them the same legal stuff but not call it marriage, HELLO! Supreme court said separate but equal is NOT legal

First, the basis of our country was founded on Judeo Christian law...with that being said, our laws are based on certain parts of the bible. Second. the government can't force anyone to believe in anyone religion. So please stop bashing religion because some people give it a bad wrap.
I do believe gays should have the right to have a civil union, but I don't think they should be "married" They do need to be protected under the law when they are with a partner and should be afforded all the legal rights that a hetrosexual couple has when they are married. They want a normal, quiet life like anyone else, and just because they are gay, it should not be denied.

To make a mockery of "The Word" and "Jesus" is playing in very treacherous territory.
Mark 8:34-38
34 And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
35 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it.
36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
37 Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
38 Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

Brown vs. Board of Education Topeka, Kansas 1955, Seperate but Equal was not okay.
This dealt with Racism. You are born black or white, the choice is not yours. But the decision of being homosexual is just that, your decision.

Most people fail to realize and tend to confuse, as Jack Black did in this skit, that the Old Testament is made up of God’s moral Law,The Priestly Levitical law and the Hebrew Civil law. To get it straight, we have the 10 commandments which is God’s Moral law and will never change no matter how much people want it to. We have the Levitical law, which was the religious law that was forfilled by the Messiah and nailed to the Stake(Cross), and we have the civil law which is the law of the land that we reside in. My land is the USA and I am a natural born citizen of the USA. I try hard to hold to the 10 commandments and all of God’s moral law. I do not pay tithes or perform animal sacrifice because I am not Jewish and Levitical law no longer exist. Also I do not stone my wife because that is against the US Civil law. To be clear, when the scriptures say that some thing is an Abomination to God, that is as part of Gods moral Law, for God does not change. Shell-fish was and abomination to Levitical Law not to God. Although Grace prevails and God seems to tolerate even for the moment , things that are abomination to him. I would not tempt him though, for the scripture say “To fear YHWH is the beginning of wisdom”
Shalom,

It's amazing the misinformation people use for the basis of their arguments.
If you're going to reference the bible, please put a specific quotable reference so it can be fact checked. Otherwise it sounds as if someone simply told you that information was in there and you took their word for it (which is a horrible basis for an argument).
The country was not "founded on separation of church and state" at all. It often flourished as a place for religious tolerance but that meant tolerance of protestant (yet christian) forms of religion usually. It wasn't until after the revolution that the church was separated from the state, and the purpose was to prevent government from imposing a specific religious denominations and providing a specific church with tax money than to prevent religious views from influencing politics. It also logically means that someone could not hold political office due solely to their religious status.
But nothing about separate of church and state implies that a person cannot base their personal votes purely on religious views or try to gain political influence through them. Evangelical religious movements are seen by some history books as part of what fueled the movement toward the revolution and religion has always played a pivotal role in shaping politics.
That all said I think civil laws need to be formed around social well-being, not purely based on ambiguous at best phrases out of a book that has been translated twice. Many morally based laws are also laws that uphold social order. In an over-populating world where we strive for equality of men and women, isn't changing marriage to the social and political unity of 2 people regardless of gender the ideal vision of that goal? As far as civil law goes as it should apply to social order primarily there is no social disorder in same-sex unions.
Claiming someone "chooses to be gay" is baseless. You choose to follow up on your urges, but you do not choose all your urges. You might choose to eat, but you don't choose to be hungry or not. And attraction *is* largely biological.

Lest everyone remember - the Bible is a book of FAITH .... not FACT !!

Old laws? Is the insinuation here that Christianity, which brought us the Crusades, The inquisition, mass Colonialization, aryan nation, the KKK, and Martin Luther's great conversion of heart from condescention to vile hatred of Jews(not to mention thousands of years of persecution by mobs of people on the basis of killing their concept of god, whose shed blood they believe to be saved by), is the culmination of forgiveness that Christianity represents contrasted with followers of the old testament who continue to live alongside and not blow up those who tried to exterminate them through organized slaughter of men, women and children? If we will know people by their fruits, touting new testament vs old by looking at the history of the followers, I would say there is no comparison. Fortunately, there is none necessary. and the point is that separation of church and state allows us all freedom from state sanctioned condemnation or domination, an no matter how much love, peace and tolerance is taught in any given holy doctrine it has the potential to be twisted.

I believe God gave every man, woman and child the gift of free will. However I do believe that every one person will be judged according to their works (personal choices). God is a holy and just God who will not allow sin to come into His presence. According to the Holy Scriptures everyone will face His justice. If you accept the gift of life through Jesus Christ you will be saved from that judgement. This is a clear picture of Gods love, and mercy to the sinner. We all need to see God in His true light. He is loving and kind, but at the same time He is holy and just. I hope and pray that every man woman and child will understand God and all of His attributes. Whether your rich, poor, black, yellow, white, gay, straight, athiest, churchgoer, we are all under the watchful eye of our Creator. Lets spread love to all. Jesus said that the greatest of all gifts is love. You can love, and choose not to condone ones actions.

Kenny, yes, I agree that the hateful people who supported Proposition 8 will be condemned by Jesus.
Posted by: Jay | December 16, 2008 at 06:35 AM
Wow, I love how those that view the basis of family as a man and a woman "hateful people." I supported Prop 8, and I have friends who are gay or lesbian. I haven't a problem with that. I do; however, believe that marriage is between a man and a woman. Is that so bad? To say that we are the hateful ones, when those that oppose Prop 8 are the very ones becoming violent over this is outrageous! Where is the hate coming from? Certainly not us, just because we believe a certain way. We love the men and women who may be gay, we just don't agree with the lifestyle. I am not sure I understand what is so terrible about that!
