Sacha Baron Cohen's Bruno crashes L.A. Prop 8 rally!

Sachabaro_eugen_11172196_600

Sacha Baron Cohen’s new character, Bruno, a gay Austrian fashion reporter, mingled with demonstrators marching near Los Angeles City Hall in support of Proposition 8, a ballot measure that could overturn a state Supreme Court ruling this year that allows same-sex marriage.

Ph2008110202305 Fittingly, he wore a blond Dutch Boy wig, possibly trying to disguise himself as a Mormon supporter of the ballot measure against gay marriage.

Talk about a death-defying stunt. Evel Knievel's got nothing on Baron Cohen.

When photographers and reporters at the rally realized who he was and tried to approach him,  his film crew shielded him before getting him into a van that drove him off.

The appearance is the latest stunt by Baron Cohen, presumably staged for his new film, “Bruno: Delicious Journeys Through America for the Purpose of Making Heterosexual Male.”

This mock doc will be in same style as his 2006 hit "Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan."

Last month, the Cambridge graduate -- dressed as fashion reporter Bruno -- was thrown out of a Paris fashion show after climbing on the catwalk and harassing the models. And he was taken away by security guards after he stormed a Madrid runway dressed in a large black cape in September.

Can’t wait to see this send-up of the fashion world. It’s gotta be way better than Rupert Everett in Robert Altman’s so-off-the-mark “Pret-a-Porter.”

What do you think? Will you go see Baron Cohen's new film?

What does his character have to do with a Mormon? I understand that the Mormons are heavily supporting the Proposition, but it seems a little out of place to say that he was trying to disguise himself as a Mormon. Perhaps this was just a poor attempt at humor. Either way, you should probably just stick to reporting the facts.

I'm laughing already. Let's hope straight-chaser Bruno also has a go at macho, bald-headed, beady-eyed Joe the Plumber.

Will I see it? Of course, I will watch it, study it, and worship it. Cohen is a genius, and it doesn't take an art degree to realize that. Film critics love him too!

Yes if there's one thing we know about mormons it's that they are a violent people and that there have been many reports of mormon violence w/r/t/ prop 8

Cohen's work varies from basic potty humor to side-splittingly funny and innovative imrpov. But the best moments -- like Borat being saved while speaking in tongues at an actual church revival -- are some of the more amazing moments ever filmed.

You can like him or not, but you eventually need to face the fact that he absolutely deserved the best actor Oscar for Borat, and without question isn't taken as seriously as he should be. He inhabits his characters like nobody else working right now.

Bring on FunkyZeit Bruno.
