Heather Locklear charged with DUI: prescription drugs
Heather Locklear has been formally charged with a DUI, according to the Santa Barbara, Calif., District Attorney's Office.
But it wasn’t alcohol. And there were no illegal drugs in her system.
It was prescription drugs. Remember Locklear did four weeks of treatment in July for anxiety and depression.
"Lab tests showed she had no alcohol in her system and no illegal narcotics of any kind," says Senior Deputy District Attorney Lee Carter, who declined to comment about the medications – or the amounts – she took. He added "We believe that the prescriptions she was taking could have impaired her ability to drive a motor vehicle safely."
The former Melrose Place star was arrested Sept. 27 in Montecito after a paparazzo dialed 911 to report that Locklear was "driving erratically."
Which is pretty nice of the papper. Most of them would have just followed her and photographed whatever crash she got into for big bucks.
Heather will be arraigned on Jan 26, 2009 in Santa Barbara court.
Happy New Year....

Jan 26, 2009 doesn't seem very timely for a supposed crime committed on Sep 27, 2008!

Gettin' older is hard, as Heather is finding out. Pills aren't the answer though. I hope she gets the help she needs, and I hope she finds a partner to go through life with.

Ms. Locklear needs all the love and healing support she can get right now. She is a wonderful woman who never became jaded by Hollywood. She's been through alot, and her privacy should be respected. Everybody goes through a bad spell in life, she is only human. I empathize with her pain, and I wish her all the best, which she so deserves.

Yes Ms. Locklear needs counseling for her medical problems and prescription drug abuse. The potential for tragedy was still there the night she got arrested and it is a good thing that she was. She could have entered the freeway the wrong way and on and on.
I am sure that she was given a drug evaluation that night by the arresting officer. Let the judicial system work. Above all, just because she is a celebrity does not make the violation any less serious.

Heather Locklear needs to rehabilitate, while drug rehabilitation centers provide dedicated support and care for addicts, the fact there are so many to choose from makes coming to that decision a little more difficult than perhaps it should be. thanks for the post.
