Kim Cattrall confirms: A new 'Sex and the City' sequel
After months of nervous nail-gnawing, Kim Cattrall, 52, confirms what we all suspected: There WILL be a sequel to this year's box office and marketing hit, “Sex and the City: The Movie.”
The actress broke the news on Britain's "The Paul O'Grady Show." When asked, "Will there be a sequel?" Cattrall replied with certainty, "Yes there will!"
A spokesperson for New Line Cinema tells People that the studio is "in negotiations for a sequel."
Which is not quite as emphatic as Cattrall's statement but close, in Hollywood speak.
Cattrall had recently told reporters, "The movie was so much fun to do and be part of again. I hope we're going to do it again."
So don't pack up your Manolos yet, girls. There's life in Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha yet.
Wonder if this franchise can keep going on, perhaps ending up like "The Golden Girls"?
How does this sound?: The girls move to Miami Beach, Charlotte shakes up the assisted living community by dealing Mexican Viagra, Samantha gets her third face-lift and now needs a drool bucket, and Carrie breaks a hip when she trips in her orthopedic Christian Louboutins!
Cue the laugh track....
News flash: Mr. Big will probably get shorter.
Are you happy about this? Or are we starting to get tired of these girls and their designer shoes? Won't a new "Sex and the City" be a difficult sell during the ongoing economic crisis in this country? Or do we all need a little escapist entertainment?

A sequel? Why? There are still humiliations left that Carrie hasn't suffered in Big's hands?

I am so excited about a sequel. It will be so nice to see the girls again and of course Mr Big. I love it! I can never get tired of Manolos!

I'm a fan of the SATC series and I was pleasantly surprised by the movie as well. That said, I'm just not sure about another sequel because I'm not sure where they could take the story line at this point when all the loose ends have been so nicely tied. But perhaps the shows excellent writers will surprise me yet again...

I was a die hard HBO Sex and the City fan; but the movie just wasn't the same. I am over it, and wish they would move on.

As an ancient sage noted: To know when is enough is true wealth. Less is more. No SITC overkill, please and thank you.

Great perspective offered by this article. I say, "No we don't need anymore". But, I am largely out of touch with the female audience I suppose.

Could it possibly be as lame and boring as the first movie?

We do not need another movie about these loose hip floozies. We need movies of culture and gentrification for sophisticated young ladies to enjoy.

Of course I will love to see another Sex and the City movie. I love those girls. I am just wondering what they will come up with now that 3 of them are married and settled. Would it be about Sex and Marrage?

The girls love em, the guys hate em. The truth hurts sometimes, huh guys?
I'm game for another S&TC - always can use a good laugh!

It's great seeing these women evolve. They can do that in the movies, whereas the TV series kept them stuck in the sexy single formula, which had run its course.
I write about "cool saging," and I look forward to growing old with the SATC girls, even though they're younger than me!
