Sarah Palin's sister thinks Tina Fey is 'dead on'
Just how accurate is Tina Fey's impersonation of Sarah Palin?
"Dead on," says Palin's sister Heather Bruce.
Bruce told The Insider in a two-part interview airing Thursday and today that "Tina does a great job. Maybe [she] goes a little bit overboard with the sarcastic expressions, but I know that's Hollywood."
Bruce couldn't make herself watch Katie Couric grilling her sis, but thought Sarah would do a great job debating Joe Biden.
"I have a feeling people will see some of the old Sarah we know and some new great surprises and great revelations."
Turns out she was right.
Most critics felt that while Palin failed to be specific (again), she held her own against Biden in her inimitable folksy way, appealing to "soccer moms" and "Joe six-pack" sitting around "the kitchen table" during last night's debate.
What did you think? Were you impressed by Sarah's performance?

I was indeed impressed, though not surprised (I'm a supporter of McCain/Palin). I also thought Biden did a great job as a speaker anyway, and purely on style and impression I'd consider the "debate" a draw.
I thought the moderator was very fair despite the supposed conflict of interest.
I wish Sarah had pointed out that the Dems are responsible for the economic crisis, which was not caused by deregulating the free market, but by interfering in it. The best solution now, believe it or not, is DO NOTHING and let the market do its (admittedly painful for many) correction.

Palin is nothing but BUSH in a skirt. It made me sick to my stomach to think she could be the next person in the White House. That's worse than selling the Lincoln bedroom.

Can't wait to see the SNL skit this weekend!
The repeated talking points, overdone folksiness, and above all the suggestive wink...I bet Tina will outdo the "real" Palin

No, not impressed. I think Biden even had to answer a question for her (about gay marriage). She danced around the questions, read from her script, winked and smirked at the camera, and pretended to be Ronald Reagan (just like McCain). Palin sounded like a hick from the sticks, mispronouncing words ("nucular") and dropping her g's, so she provided no proof, merely a lot of "aw shucks" lip service, to her unconvincing blather about the value of education and growing up in a family of teachers, which sounds like something left over from her beauty pageant days. Definitely not VP material.

I felt that Palin performed much better than everyone anticipated. There were very low expectations set for her but she managed to meet and surpass them.
However, Biden was the clear winner in the debate. While Palin came across as scripted and rehearsed at times, Biden seemed very comfortable, confident and knowledgeable. His answers came from his own experience, opinions and conlusions, not some pre-cooked answers and punchlines memorized over the course of the past few days, which is exactly what Palin did to prepare for this debate.

impressed? no. She wasn't a trainwreck. Is that enough to qualify for the presidency? I sure hope not.

I think Tina Fey's impersonation of Sarah Palin makes Palin seem less evil and corrupt than she really is. Sarah Palin puts on the dumb act because her real views are revolting to most everyone. The debate showed that Palin can read from her note cards and put on the folksy act. Palin is evil and would create more world turmoil and give more taxpayer money to Republican cronies. Ask Palin about her stonewalling the Troopergate investigation. Yeah, that's folksy.

I wonder what Tina Fey thinks (politically) of Sarah Palin?

Democrats are into politics for the sole purpose of obscuring the definition of morality, and passing subsequent laws that make morality illegal in the United States.
At our nation's greatest crisis, the Civil War, these same democrats wanted to destroy the United States rather than being considered equal to the black man; today, these democrats want to destroy the United States rather than being considered equal to unborn Americans---what a legacy.
This is why Saturday Night Live will never do a parody about Obama and his riduculous credentials, background, accusations, and proposals.

What's with the winking and making those clicking sounds? Is that supposed to make me feel like she's just regular folks? It looks more like Tourrette's Syndrome. And could someone please explain to Sarah what the term Achilles' Heel means? And how to pronounce the word 'nuclear'? Yes, Tina Fey has a gold mine of material for this week's SNL.

Palin said it's about time we have a joe six-pack american in the executive.
Sarah Palin earns over 200k a year, the only hting she has in common with Joe Six-Pack Americans is that she is not qualified to be a VP.
I'm by no means being derogatory towards middle class Americans, as I happen to be one, I just don't think that average Americans such as myself are qualified to lead our Nation. If this isnt the case, then 95% of America should be running for the Presidency.

I thought she did well. I am a big Obama supporter too.Sarah is very impressive.

I think she did an outstanding job. People have gotten so used to politicians play their game.
She is different in a good way. Since when did foreign policy get limited to IRAN, PAKISTAN, AFGHANISTAN and RUSSIA.
What about rest of the world (China, India, Brazil, South Africa and all of Europe). How do we strengthen our relations with them? Someone has to ask questions beyound war.
This is an era of globalisation and we can not afford to cut ourselves from the world. We would get left behind.
Palin lacks knowledge in a lot of areas but I think her integrity and hardwork would more than compensate that.
Peace

Palin did what she had to do, as did Biden. Both satisfied their constituents, but I doubt if either swayed anyone to their side from either the other camp or the independents.
The only difference is did style matter over substance. The polls do seem to say no...

Sarah did great last night!
Politics isn't about logic. It's about romance. Sarah Palin pitches a mean game of woo.
She's the perfect answer to the undeniably vicious tenor the democrats have taken this year. Look at the other comments right here. Undecided people aren't swayed by mean remarks and snark. The democrats will lose this election because they have no idea, at the grass roots level, how to court non-base voters.

Joe Bden kept saying,"Obama and I supported..." or "Obama and I warned..." or "Obama and I have always felt..." and it was a bit ridiculous because I highly doubt Obama was out "supporting" this or that opinion way back when he was only a kid and Biden was doing all those things. Biden also made sure to point out that any time Obama makes a big decision, Biden will be there to hold his hand.

I'm hardly impressed by her skillful ability to deviate the question into a subject she has rehearsed beforehand--or somehow ignore it completely.
I will concede that she did not fail miserably, but only in comparison to her on-air wreckages with Katie Couric and Charlie Gibson. It's a bit alarming, really, that the general public is actually impressed. An improvement from an exceptionally low standard is not excellence. It is merely *less* devastating and humiliating.
Folksy charm and appeal would make her wonderful for a job like public relations where she does not need to exercise any personal decision-making skills. Such a job would only require reading from a teleprompter and looking presentable. Hardball politics are no platform for winks and smiles. Of course, I want someone who *relates* to Joe Six Pack and Sally Soccer Mom. But I definitely do not want the actual Joe or Sally in any office position. The point is to understand and help the unqualified general public; not to be one of them. I don't want someone who is going to wink her way out of a hostile situation with a foreign head of state. I don't want her to exclaim "gosh darnit!" during the midst of an economic crisis. Evidently, those are the only actions she is capable of executing, judging from her lack of specificity concerning her future policies and goals.
Her beauty-pageant-like answers may make us smile (or smirk). However, for those of us who can't think of a realistic circumstance where a wide grin would alleviate matters--we're actually concerned.

Both did what was expected. Biden's delivery and experience shined. Palin showed she's not 'Washington' experienced, but she was good in her own way... *wink*.

three winks during the debate. Cutesy, folksy.
Sarah Palin insults real SOCCER Moms because they are actually attending games their children play in rather than spending time banning books or tallying the recent profits generated by the sale of rape kits to rape victims.
Sarah Palin is a WART.

AMAZING how people care about a VP's lacking, but not the President's.

Tina Fey is the poor man, ghetto trash version, lost a knife fight version of the intelligent, down to earth Palin

The really sad thing is I Tina Fey would do a better job running the country. At least she never raised the sales tax in Alaska like Palin did. No really, check for yourself.

I think Tina Fey is beautiful and does a dead on impersonation of Sarah Palin. The thing that disturbs me is how hot Sarah Palin is. I'd pound her.

Palin did well in proving that she can recite a rehearsed script. But there is no depth, no "learned" knowledge about governmental finances nor international politics. We have witnessed this same lack of knowledge in our current president who has been so manipulated by smart but ruthless aids. Never again, never again!
