New Mexico newspaper headline: Obama Wins!
A New Mexico paper has declared Barack Obama the next POTUS!
The New Mexico Sun News printed the headline “Obama Wins” in its election edition on stands today, with “Special Collectors Edition” printed in bold red type.
Seems the Sun News is a bimonthly newspaper and the Oct. 26-Nov. 8 issue had to hit the streets -- and the newsstands -- before the election.
So, based on the polls, the editors made a logical leap of faith and declared Democrat Barack Obama the winner.
Explaining their choice, the editors wrote, “When it comes to calling the winner of a presidential election, everyone wants to be first. The New Mexico Sun News hereby claims that achievement.”
The alternative newspaper asks readers to get out and vote, “even if we did spoil the ending for you.”
Maybe not. Remember that "Dewey Beats Truman" headline?
And that Florida hanging chad mess?
It ain’t over yet. So everyone get out and vote on Tuesday!
Are you concerned that the media's blitz about Barack' Obamas lead may cause Democratic voters to get lazy and not go to the polls next Tuesday?

They may be eating their words the day after the election...this election is much closer then the last one. Polls had Kerry up much higher then Bush and we know who won. The problem with polls, is that there is a large number of conservative voters who just don't take part in polls. Plus people are starting to see that Obama is exactly who he said he was the past several decades...a far left wing Marxist...and a fraud. The "apple" doesn't fall far from the "tree".

Dear Elizabeth:
It is unfortunate that the above CNN story didn't mention the 14 page
article that was a compendium of the 38 best editorial page endorsements from all over the United States, and neglected to mention, as we did in the
article, that we were justified in saying Obama Wins! because he had just
won the Scholastic Magazine election by mostly sixth graders.
These 38 endorsements, plus about 20 more, are posted at mybarackobama.com
in my personal blog, listed under Stephen Fox
They are also posted in 7 very long articles at opednews.com, and there is an opportunity to comment at will and at length.
This was not a stunt, whatsoever. Our next issue comes out 4 days after the election, and his victory would be old news by then. We are not seers nor fortune tellers, but we are like many Americans Poli Sci wonks, scholars,
and Democratic strategists. I personally have been concentrating on making happen the editorial page endorsement avalanche for Obama we are seeing now, and like a gardener, proud to hold up the first fruits of victory.
The comparison with the Chicago Tribune and Dewey is irrelevant. We are proud of endorsing him in this way, to just declare him the winner, which apparently folks would have known if they were still in 6th grade.
By making this out to be a "stunt" or a "prank," the Senior Political
Correspondent at CNN dismissed our motivation. Nonetheless, we are glad we did what we did, and certainly not "just to be first." The endorsements are all at OpEdNews.com and at mybarackobama.com at my blog site: read them in
succession, and you will comprehend more clearly our effort and its
integrity.

I personally hate the fact that the newspaper did this! Shame on them. They could really jinx us. And it seriously undermines Obama's cautionary advice not to get cocky and to make sure you vote because we have not won yet. Polls aside. Media coverage aside. All that matters is votes. And with the voter suppression efforts which have been documented on several news stations right now, the democrats have to win by a wider margin to overcome legitimate voters that might get turned away, dropped votes on Diebold machines, etc. Every vote might not get counted in actuality, but every vote counts in the sense that Obama needs an overwhelming amount of support to ensure victory. This headline only encourages the sense of voter apathy. Obama supporters are better advised to watch the 'Obama loses by one vote' video and send it to all their friends, personalized with their friends' names on it. Vote, vote, vote, vote, vote people! Let's make sure we take back the white house this time.

Love the story and thanks for speaking about it. I must say when I turned on the news this morning I thought I missed Halloween and the elections. Either way this election goes, this newspaper has just made some history, not to mention a bunch of money.

I am not Joe the plumber. I am not Tito the builder. I am proud to be a United States citizen. I am a housewife and part-time sales clerk in a local mall. I have two sons in Houston, TX. One working for $45,000.00 a yr and the other working for $26,000. Last year my home was foreclosed on and we was forced to move from Houston to another state where my husband was fortunate enough to find a job after struggling for several years. The company he planned to retire from closed and moved overseas in 1997, when Clinton was President. We have struggled with multiple health issues for more than one family member. Struggling at times with no health insurance and depending on state aid for help. We have no retirement funds, no savings, pay rent for the home we currently live in, and still have a 16 year old that wants to go to college. We have no college fund for him. Our oldest son moved with us because he is also unemployed looking for work. You could say that we are the perfect democratic voter considering the facts of our situtation. That is not the case. For the first time in my adult life I am scared of this election! I am scared that Obama with all his anti-American connections will be our next President. This paper along with many other democratic reporters has used media leverage to brainwash the American people into believing Obama is the candidate best suited for the job. You are helping screw up this country more than it is already. Bush did not do more to harm this country than the democratic congress elected four years ago. Obama has too many secrets, bad associates and friends, a evil minister, and a screwed up plan for this country. Somebody needs to get their facts straight when it comes to Obama and they better do it before it is too late! Time is running out! It is not prejudice or racist to have concerns about a candidate that dodges important questions and has lots of negative contacts. Not one, not two, but too many to list, and the media is failing to do their job and get to the truth.
Wake up America! Wake up before it is too late! Know the candidate that you are voting for. Find out all you can. If there is just 1% doubt that your candidate has connections to radical muslims and anti-Americans than you better vote for the candidate that loves this country!!!!!!!!!! Vote for the candidate proud to place his hand over his heart and say the Pledge of the United States of America!

How unfortunate to see the words "love" by one and "hate" by another.
I am an Obama supporter but think it is wrong to put out a newspaper proclaiming a winner. This twice a month paper should have done what even some "daily" newspapers will do which is run a special election follow up edition. People should keep their emotions in check when posting to so many people. Using words like "hate" and making fun of peoples names just shows the lack of intelligence of the writer.

This is ridiculous. If a conservative paper had printed this about John McCain, it would be the top story of the day. Our great liberal news outlets wouldn't be able to say enough about how the republicans are suppressing the vote and buying the election. If anything this election has been bought and paid for by Barack Hussein Obama with the help of his foreign investors. But just like anything else the liberals have done this election, the story won't be covered but maybe one time and the media will cover it up saying that is just one papers opinion.

No matter who the candidate is there will always be those "for and against" who have no real sensible contribution to make to the debate.
When we peel away these ignorant people and their sensationalist conspiracy theories, we are left with the truth.
The truth is sometimes a hard pill to swallow, especially when it goes against your side, or what you believe.
Can you honestly put your hand on your heart and declare that the United States of America does not need a CHANGE.
This election has polarised the American people like never before.
The stakes are bigger than ever and therefore the masses will vote with their brains and not with their preconceived and indoctrinated beliefs, or should I say not with their hearts.
America, this is the BIG one.
The world is watching you, so do the right thing.
God Bless you and God bless the United States of America.
Goodnight.

Tune in Tuesday, and see if our prediction wasn't correct. The only comment to which I am responding is the one that warns me not to say something negative about Obama after the election. This is quite deranged, truly, as I have been working 12 hours a day on his campaign totally focused on facilitating the editorial page landslide which will lead to the electoral college landslide, as a volunteer, so I am entitled to do this, based on the 38 editorial page endorsements covering 14 pages in the article supporting the cover photo. It was not done in jest at all; it was our editor's decision, which I enthusiastically supported. Reading some of these comments reminds me of how many crazy people there are in LA, and why I moved from there 40 years ago, after graduating from Occidental College, incidentally the same school Obama started at but left after two years to go to Harvard. By the way, Michelle Obama saw our cover and liked it, just last night....

Remember the 1948 upset election, with McCain in the role of Harry S. Truman and Sen. Barack Obama as Thomas E. Dewey, lulled into overconfidence by inaccurate polls.

Gosh! some people sure have a lot to write. No need to get all hot under the collar, folks ! Hopefully everyone will vote, and the one with the most will win!

This is not news! How do you take yourself seriously? SunNews is more akin to a small cog in the perpetual propaganda machine that never stops. I lived in Las Cruces from 1999 to 2007 and rarely put any water in what you guys report. Mr Fox, - another blindfolded dive into the polarizing quagmire of irresponsibility. Small-minded stunt from small-minded, self-serving individuals. Desert Ink is by far a more reliable NEWSpaper. Good luck on digging yourself out of this one! Maybe you could have a Special Edition signing ceremony at Coas My Bookstore, if the'll have you.

"...and neglected to mention, as we did in the article, that we were justified in saying Obama Wins! because he had just won the Scholastic Magazine election by mostly sixth graders."
News Flash--Sixth graders can't vote in the election!
Also, there is a very good chance that these children have been encouraged by their teachers, the liberal media, and in some cases--their parents, to "vote" for Barack Hussein Obama. .
Children that young are easily swayed, they are not yet capable of critical thinking. Teachers play a major role in children's thinking--many teachers support Barack Hussein Obama.
Most schools and universities, along with the liberal press support Barack Hussein Obama, so it is not too much of a surprise that they are able to brainwash their younger students into supporting this idiot.
Think back when you were in 6th grade. Did you really care about who was POTUS--or would you just go with whoever your buddy, your teacher, your parent liked? How critical were your thinking skills then, versus now? I bet, for most of you, you think a lot better now than then! Although, stories like this one make me wonder...

"CHANGE!!! WE NEED CHANGE TO GET THAT IDIOT BUSH OUT OF THE WHITE HOUSE I DONT CARE WHO GOES IN AS LONG AS BUSH GETS OUT!!"
So, Putin would be ok with you?
Because that's what you will get with Barack Hussein Obama--a socialist who believes in redistributing wealth to make it "fair" for everyone!

I am a 73 year old Atheist Activist who has put aside my battle against
those who discriminate against Atheists and to assure the complete
Separation of Church & State on hold to support and vote for McCain &
Palin as ODUMA is a complete disaster!
Obama is a LYING, ELITIST, RACIST SOCIALIST who is a hypocrite as he
want to share my money with other while his aunt lives in public
housing. He has NO common sense or integrity as he would not have White
and America Hating Preachers, Convicted Felons and TERRORISTS among his
good friends!
Oduma DENIES PROVEN Facts and has NO clue about Iraq or much else. He
nothing more than a slick talking CON man who has CONNED the naive, the
gullible and the media.
And Children, those of us who take the time to learn the facts and are
also bright enough to understand what they mean, KNOW the Iraq War is
both FULLY Justified and a Necessary part of our World Wide War on
TERROR!
All You poor clueless fools who support ODUMA are in for a HUGE Shock as
McCain not only has all the Republicans voting for him, he also has most
of we Independents as well as many MILLIONS of Democrats on his side.
Thus, MARK MY WORDS, the NEXT President of the United States WILL be
John McCain!
And those who publish that newspaper will not only be eating their
words, they be shown to be the total fools they are.
