Madonna's trigger-happy heels spark gun controversy
Don't shoot Madonna.
She didn't make these handgun high heels. Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld did and he calls them "Miami Vice."
But Madonna did wear Chanel sharp-shooters to this week's premiere of her new film, "Filth and Wisdom," in New York.
Kinda funny that she's so down on Gov. Sarah Palin -- avid hunter and gun owner -- but she wears shoes that look like guns.
Is there no publicity stunt so low that Madonna will not stoop right to it?
Madge is already getting reamed by a UK victims’ group for wearing the trendsetting gun shoes.
Lynn Costello, from Mothers Against Murder And Aggression, said in a statement released this week:
“I am horrified that Madonna can see these shoes as fashion. As a mother herself I would have thought that she would have paused for a second and thought about all the young people here and in her own country that have died because of gun crime. She should have thought about all the young people that have died because of gun crime. We need the whole of society to take responsibility and action in stopping the glamorization of weapons. Celebrities have a massive part to play and an icon like Madonna should have more sense. It’s uncaring. Surely she reads the news and realizes that young people are dying every day.”
In her defense, Madonna joked at the event that her shoes weren't loaded.
What do you think? Should Madonna be ashamed of herself? And will Sarah Palin order a pair?

Give me a break. It's ONLY a damn shoe. Political correctness has gotten really out of hand.

Ugh, no, Madonna should not be ashamed for wearing a kick-a*s pair of heels. That other woman should be ashamed for being such a whiny twit. I have a bag with brass knuckles as the handle (which I love); if I were famous I'm sure someone would have a problem with that too. It's just fashion, people should be allowed to have fun with it. Also, pretty sure the reason Madonna doesn't like Sarah Palin has nothing to do with her love of guns and more to do with her scarily regressive views for women.

Any excuse for a story about Madge, really. This is rather lame - they're a pair of novelty shoes, get over it.

This attempted tiein between Madonna's shoes and Governor Palin's pro gun stance is a sad commentary on a serious situation. Despite the late hour in the election, we are still trying to learn about Sarah Palin's views on various issues including gun control. Here lies the TRUTH about Sarah Palin: Http://dailysource.org/palin.

I am proud of Madonna for being so bold. And I do not care what "advocate group" is against it. Here in the USA, everywhere guns are REQUIRED in a township's city limits, crime statistics plummet, and I mean BIG TIME. There is one town in Montana & Georgia that requires all households to have guns and the crime / homicide is virtually near zero. As far as the "UK" group of Mom's -- I am sorry about the children that you have lost, but guns are not the problem -- the criminal element is and irresponsible children. The UK government just brainwashed you into thinking guns are bad and took them away from you "for your own good" so now only criminals and the fascist gov't that you have only has guns.

Maybe she thought that that was the only appropriate place for a gun. You know if we're going to limit gun usage, we should find a way to recycle those that are already around...

I think those are just about the cutest shoes I have ever seen.
I would love to own a pair.
If people have nothing better to do than critize her shoes - GET A LIFE! Those shoes are awesome!

Well, seeing as how Madonna has publicly supported calls for gun control, and seeing as how the replica gun heels appear to violate both federal and NYC laws, I say give her her wish and enforce the laws she advocates.
They would if it were you or me...

Considering New York's draconian firearms laws that regulate event he appearance of toy and replica guns, I would say that while Madonna may or may not be ashamed, it is the law enforcement that should be ashamed for giving a celebrity a pass when a normal citizen would have been locked up and charged with violating firearms laws. The Rule of Law my arse.
