Did Sarah Palin flop or fly on 'Saturday Night Live?'
Check out these two videos from Gov. Sarah Palin's appearance on "Saturday Night Live" last night.
What do you think? Did she do pretty good with her scripted remarks and deadpan? And did she look like a pretty good head-bopping sport during Amy Poehler's Palin rap song, complete with a moose, eskimos and Todd Palin in a snow suit?
Too bad they didn't let Amy use a rifle to shoot that moose. Or should it be a shotgun? Just kidding, dudes.
Don't go all NRA on me again.
Bottom line, is Sarah, as Alec Baldwin said, way hotter than Tina Fey? And am I alone in thinking that Tina Fey still makes a better Sarah Palin than Sarah Palin does?
Off topic, but how funny was Mark Wahlberg?

Palin clearly started her post-lost-election strategy last night, making it plain that she doesn't belong near the White House, but can deliver media-wise.
She may not have any principles, but if I were Nancy Grace, I'd be worried. Palin's next stop after the Obama victory might be a cable news show, where she can put her talent for sneering and sarcasm, which apparently includes ridiculing herself, into pumping up ratings.

First loved her press assistants name Liesomething and I wish it was dickwhatever.
Sarah Palin to ,me from day one has been vulgar, conniving and a woman who stands to be called a wonaizer if she were a guy, and most of all a lying hypocrite, it confirmed the same, and Palin bombed.

I think she did fine, not great and not terrible. I think it was SNL who flopped, that opening sketch was terrible.
Although how scary was it when Palin replaced Tina Fey at the podium and if you blinked during the transition you wouldn't have noticed a difference!

Unfortunately Sarah did poorly on SNL. I'm a huge Obama fan, but I find her so hapless, I always hope she does ok in public.
She did miserably. But all the writing surrounding her appearance also was pathetic.

She showed allot of guts going into that HOSTILE setting. I think she did GREAT. I think all of you had better get used to seeing and hearing about her because, even if her and Senator McCain don't win the Election, I would bet money that we see her again in the 2012 race, and she's already got my vote!!!

Flop! How sour can you go!
No greatness there! Just not ready for the big stage.

tasteless. For an eventual vice-president of the USA ...horrible!!!

I'd rather have Tina Fey for VP than Sarah Palin!

She's a good sport, humble and admirable. She was not afraid to be laught at... she's not afraid of anything at all. She'll do a good job as a leader.

First, I hope you realize that Alec Baldwin was reading a script. Watch carefully, and you will see him continually look to cue cards to the right (from our camera angle) of Lorne, the executive producer.
Second, Yeah, I think Sarah is more attractive than Tina. Tina is a comic genius, and attractive enough, but if we are making comparisons, Sarah has more electricity, and softer features. I guess it is a matter of preference.
Third, Sarah explains that Steven Baldwin, the lease chromasomally challenged of the Baldwin Bros., is her favorite Baldwin, because he endorsed John McCain.
Fourth, I think everyone was a good sport, and overall it was a fun show.
Last but not least, I think Wahlberg was hilarious, and ought to try his hand at more comedic roles. That deadpan delivery to Lorne..."Do I have to bust your head open, too?" RFLMAO.

I think she was great. How many people would go and laugh at themselves while so many want to see you fail? She's an amazing woman and has a whole lot more depth and courage than people realize (and a whole lot more depth and courage than those that have to put her down)!

Sarah was amazing! No matter what side of politics you are on - she was a good sport to face Alex Baldwin, Tiny Fey, etc. knowing what has been said and demonstrated on SNL over the past few weeks.

Sarah Palin, you are no Tina Fey!

I think Sarah Palin is a very talented woman, and has the potential to grow into a formidable politician (although I think she'd be better as a talk show host...not an easy job, BTW). I thought she performed flawlessly on SNL, while maintaining her dignity. I do think she's very hot. But she is not ready to be President of the United States, nor will she become so simply by being elected at Vice-President. I think she has been exploited and thrown to the wolves by John McCain, who by choosing her, demonstrated recklessly bad judgment making a decision which is critical to the future of this country. I credit her for making the best of the challenge, and for enduring a most vicious assault by the media and many in the electorate.

I thought that when beening "roasted" Sarh Palin did a great job with her humor.

I saw this poem online and thought you would get a laugh. It represents most of her talking points. SNL should consider this one.
"A Poem Regarding Governor Palin: (play music in head to rap drum beat as you read to enhance experience)"
Pro Life for all is what she say
But die baby die whales in our bay
Reform reform is her battle cry
14 wolf pups shot in the head, they must die
She say: You don't understand our culture here
Foreign Policy I got cause Russia's near
We gotta separate from lower 48
Then I'll get by with my Trooper Gate
I get all Christiany when it suits
When no one's looking employees get the boot
Kill wolves and bears by plane is her say
Manage Wildlife the Alaskan way
Scare and Chase 'em down till they drop
Then it's easy to do the pop
Don't know how to spell Maverick
But that's my name I try to stick
We love our freedom with the AIP
I'll talk to ya secret and support thee
I gotta quit doin' all this ailin'
Gotta read some more on Sarah Palin

Tina Fey is the most popular kid in high school making fun of inlellectual lightweight ,Sarah. For |Palin's appearance on SNL to be a win, Tina had to figuratively throw her arm around |Sarah's shoulder and welcome Palin "into the joke." Fey did not do that. The body language -- along with the fact that Palin and Fey never appeared together except for a milli-second -- said it all. |We are all still laughing at Palin -- not with her.

No --- I think Sarah is still the better 'Sarah'.
I think her appearance was appropriate, at this point in the campaign. If she'd actually done the rap, for example, her performance would probably be trashed by those who hate her, no matter how it actually went.
I thought it was numerous, and appropriate. But, it's too close to the election for her to risk huge gaffes either way.
Even if she'd done more, like some of the parody instead of Tina, there'd be tons of 'questioning' of her abilities by news pundits and of her judgment in 'doing something like this so close to the election'.
If this were earlier in the game she could have done more, or risked more.
Which is a shame--- you have to do 'funny' things, or really individual peformances like Clinton's sax playing on the Arsenio show comes to mind. You can take risks early on, or if you are one of several potentials. Three weeks from the election? No, you can't.

She was a big flop just like she would be as vice president. Pack your bags honey, you'll be back in Alaska on November 5th.

The skits were lame, and Palin was flat. It's fitting that her attempt to restore a tiny bit of her public image was one of SNL's least entertaining moments.
Also telling was the cheers from the crowd. It appears that the crowd was filled with Palin supporters - probably because the normal crowd was so turned off by the thought of being in the same room with her.

The Governor showed up. She was reserved. She may have been far more entertaining had she not been under pressure to do-no-harm. She said as much in her second appearance. Baldwin was funnier than Wahlberg but I like seeing both do cameos.

I agree Tina makes a better Sarah but I thought Sarah did a fine job..............and I voted for Obama!
I about peed my pants I was laughing so hard at Mark Wahlberg. "Say hello to your mother for me." Too much!
Posted by: stacy | October 19, 2008 at 12:05 PM
"I'm not gonna take any of your questions."
Ha ha ha! That's great... Wait a minute...
That's true... And she could be our President? Shoot me.

Harmless SNL fun. Just lucky I'm not a wild animal or Democrat in Alaska. Palin would probably shoot all of us...
OY
