Will Gov. Sarah Palin's glasses start an eyewear trend?
Keep your eyes on Sarah Palin.
And her eyewear.
The Alaska governor and Republican nominee for vice president has been in the limelight for only a few days. But, according to USA Today, she's already starting an eyewear trend.
She recently updated her eyewear and had new lightweight, titanium, rimless rectangular frames made for her by Home Optics, a retailer in Chugiak, Alaska.
The frames are designed by Kazuo Kawasaki, from the 704 series, in 34 gray. They start at $375 but can hit $700, depending on the lenses.
Home Optics owner Joy Leedham went to Palin's home in late December and fitted her in her kitchen. The governor had around 300 frames to consider and narrowed it down to five.
Her family helped pick the final style. The frames Palin picked "help her look fashion-forward," Leedham told USA Today.
The U.S. distributor of Kawasaki frames told USA Today that calls are already coming in from dealers who want to stock the exact shape and style Palin's wearing.
Let's hope pregnant teenage daughters aren't the next big craze Sarah inspires.

Great article...until the very end, which kills it.

You know, your article was interesting and until the last sentence. Was that really necessary? Why couldn't you have just talked about the glasses and the trend Gov. Palin may have started. Totally unnecessary shot; typical liberal crap!!

I think Sarah is amazing and I'm looking forward to her being our next VP. God bless her and her family and America!

Great glasses. Poor journalism with the final comment. Such trash!

The last sentence was a cheap shot - as always the media must write negatively. How were you a teenager ??? Did you listen to everything you were told? Or were you just lucky and didn't get caught so you can now be an older child armed with the cheap shots. As a media professional, you should be above this kind of press and your writings/comments should be banned.

Fun article about the glasses, but last comment is totally out of line. It's a perfect example of the liberal media being negative and hateful as usual.

Sarah's glasses look great. I love her style. Classy. More than I can say for your article.

Sarah's glasses are awsome. I have to get a pair.
Cheep shot about teen pregnancy. Cheep shot!

Our next Vice President Rocks... Too bad the cheep comment was at the end.. Shows the green vomit the writer ate for breakfast.

love the snide comment about pregnant girls at the end of this piece. typical of snarky, bitter leftists spooning out the water of a sinking LAT ship.

Comment about pregnant daughter is completely in line. Funny because it's possible. As VEEP, Palin would exemplify "model America." Do we really want her (and her family) being the model of America to the rest of the world - poorly educated with no self-discipline? Glasses, however, are cool.

Hockey Mom VP and 1 heart attack away from being the President! Hell I'll run for something ... Rent the movie 'Being There' with Peter Sellers ... it summes this whole thing up ... with Love from a Hillary supporter - Go Obama/Biden

I am elated that you have the last word. Congratulations.
With the power of the media and you as the lead, you will most certainly be successful in trashing her and sending her packing into the darkest recesses of the White House.
Of course, you already know that her insignificant speech totally alienated some 37 + million viewers, and that your concluding sentence accorded her much more recognition and respect than all your colleagues combined.
Thank you for your insight and very high moral standards. And please, please keep up with the good work. You are a real asset. And a sure fire winner of the Pulitzer. Just ask your editor if that is not a real possibility.

Ms. Snead, can you say, "Backlash"? Some of the other "Mean Girls" in the MSM are already getting burned for taking on the Moms of America. Please see http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26549704
No threats here, but if you write a punchline fit for the bottom of the bird cage, the whole article gets dirty.

Your last comment was very rude and uncalled for. I guess Sarah Palin is just like any other human family. We can't all be perfect like your family must be. I hope all the negative comments about her daughter make her daughter a stronger woman just like her Mom. Hopefully Mr Obama's children don't turn out to be like their Mom, a miserable looking witch

You are a Witch to say something like that about a pregnant teenage daughter. I got pregnant with I was 17, and believe me, it had nothing to do with my mother. If I had seen her tormented and having to pay for my sin I would have been heartbroken. What you're saying is nothing less than child abuse.

As usual, the Repugs can't stand any criticism whatsoever.

How about the glasses she wore at the RNC? Is that the same brand from Kawasaki?
Posted by: karen | September 05, 2008 at 11:06 PM
If one of the democratic candidates had a pregnant teenage, unwed daughter, we wouldn't hear the end of it--it would be the biggest, most appalling controversy. "Those lax, loosely disciplines leftists without any morals!" But look who's got the "immoral" behavior--the republicans!

If you don't like the liberal media, then why are you all on this website, go to some other place where you can spew your hateful venom.
And by the way, cheap shot, isn't spelled "cheep".

From an article in the Washington Post...
"The Los Angeles Times lost 8 percent of its daily circulation -- the most of any of the nation's largest newspapers -- over the past six months..."
Now I know why.
Was this suppose to be an opinion column?

Agree that last line ruined an otherwise good article. But what is more tedious is the knee-jerk stereotyping reaction and banal beating of the "hateful liberal media" drum.
Either check yourselves or proudly wear the badge of hypocrisy for all the times you have enjoyed comments, ranging from trite to venomous, penned by professed conservative writers, commentators, and candidates (both presidential and vice presidential).
