Nicole Richie's ex-fiance DJ AM and Travis Barker injured in crash
Former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and Adam "DJ AM" Goldstein survived a Learjet plane crash Friday night.
The four other passengers, still unidentified, two passengers and two crew members, were killed in the crash, according to CNN.
Both men were in critical condition with extensive burns at the Joseph Still Burn Center in Augusta, Georgia early Saturday.
The National Transportation Safety Board sent a Go Team to Columbia, S.C., to investigate the crash of the Learjet 60, which crashed on takeoff at the Columbia Metropolitan Airport at 11:53 p.m. Friday night. Sparks were reportedly seen on takeoff by flight controllers.
Beth Frits, spokeswoman at the Burn Center, told CNN that Barker and Goldstein arrived at the hospital early Saturday with "extensive burns." At last report, they are still in critical condition.
Barker and Goldstein, who perform together under the name TRVSDJ-AM, held a free outdoor concert in Columbia's college neighborhood Friday night. DJ Steve Aoki, Perry Farrell and Gavin DeGraw also performed with them. Farrell's manager has confirmed to MTV that he was not on the plane. Perez Hilton is reporting that DeGraw was not on the plane.
Confirmed dead to MTV are the plane's pilot, Sarah Lemmon, 31, of Anaheim, Calif., and her copilot, James Bland, 52, from Carlsbad, Calif. Barker's assistant, Chris "Little Chris" Baker, also died in the crash. He was 29, and lived in Studio City, Calif. One other passenger is still unidentified.
"It's absolutely terrible and tragic," Columbia Mayor Bob Coble told AP.
Please say prayers for everyone who was on that flight.

This is terrible. What a tragedy. I hope Travis and AM make it through this. I read about two people getting thrown out of the plane, was it Travis and AM? Is that why they survived but everyone else didn't? This is so sad. Rest in peace for the four others that didn't make it. A very sad day for everyone.

Sorry to hear anyone died, but it's not like the world would have lost ANYTHING if these two died as well. This the kind of thing you actually joke about..."Travis Barker and DJ AM should both be in a plane crash...." Alas, they DIDN'T die. Which is "good" ....I guess. Maybe some of his ridiculous tattoos got burned off.

Travis Barker has given so much to others and now it's time to give back to him. Because of his talent and generosity to fledgling musicians and other people he's my personal favorite celebrity. And has been for a long time. He is very close to his father, who must be in shock right now. Pray for these talented young men and their families. And the families of the deceased.

It's a terrible and tragic event. We all hope they pull through with minimal disruption to their lives. But what good is prayer going to do? If you are praying to a god that might save or help them, then you are also praying to the god that did this to them in the first place.

This article was typed 46 minutes ago, yet you say the other four were unidentified? I believe they were Chris Baker, 29, of Studio City, Calif., and Charles Still, 25, of Los Angeles, Sarah Lemmon, 31, of Anaheim Hills, Calif., and James Bland, 52, of Carlsbad.

What a devastating tragedy.
We will keep the survivors in our prayers and keep faith that they overcome the injuries they have suffered in this tragic accident.
Its incredible how your life can change in an instant. Keep that in mind, always.
And spread the LOVE.

I love Travis and DJ AM. I hope people finally stop resorting to uncreative ways of saying who he is.. he is a superstar in his own right, and everyone knows it. he is a famous DJ, obviously. Travis and Adam were working to revolutionize music as we know it, collaborating to produce real tech sounds from actual instruments, not just recordings. I hope they both recover and have as little of pain as possible.. and I wish all who are close to them the best... please have faith and be there for them both... all of you!

To the guy that said maybe it's "good" they didn;t die but the world wouldn't have lost anything if they did:
You aren't worth the long winded responses you're getting. I hope you get hit by a bus you callous scumbag.

I was in shock when I heard this morning. I feel so bad for everyone involved, including the deceased and their families.
I am praying for Travis and Adam and hope to God they both pull through.

I'm neither a fan or a hater of either but this is heartbreaking. There is no need to be making jokes and sarcastic remarks and I hope those who are being ridiculously rude get what you deserve (a few jerks above)... 4 lives were lost today and I bet you you wouldn't be acting like this if it was your own family and/or friends. I'm shamed of people like you guys.

My thoughts & prayers are with you and your families. xo!

I worked the show with Travis and AM last night.
I never liked Travis but after working with them all day I became a fan. He was taking pics with anyone that wanted, even two Columbia City cops. He was cool to all our crew and he played great. It's obvious that the man just wants to play the drums.
The two guys that died were hard workers and treated us great. RIP, Bro's.
All the families have hard times. This is rough stuff.

I'm truly sorry that this happened. And that has nothing to do with their fame. It's a tragedy and we must send them positive thoughts. It's a miracle alone that they survived. And to all those who have nothing but horrific things to say, think about the fact that they are human beings. If you can't, then you're the real scum. This is a tragedy and hope from it, goodness can be found. My thoughts are with them and their families.

To the ignorant, obviously, un-sensitive nut job who said "The world wouldn't have lost anything if these two had died. Hey Idiot! Travis is someones son, father, uncle, etc...and so is Dj Am. They both have made contributions to this world in many ways! You are someone who obviously are missing that sensitivity chip! I'd like to see the look on your face when you realize your time is up, and death stares you in the face. at least they both survived! You won't.
Posted by: spoiledRotten | September 21, 2008 at 12:53 AM
why is it not ok for someone to say the world wouldn't have lost anything because they are human beings, but then you all tell him to die? it seems like both groups need to look at things from a different perspective and realize all life is precious and love should be given to all no matter what. even if they are jerks who make jokes of tragedy, or hypocrites that say the jerks should die.
