Miley Cyrus to follow Mandy Moore's lead in Nicholas Sparks movie
Say buh-bye to "Hannah Montana."
Miley Cyrus is now trying to mimic Mandy Moore's film career path. Which raises the question: Is that really such a good idea?
Variety is reporting that Cyrus will star in a new film being tailor-written for her by author Nicholas Sparks, the author of Moore's "A Walk to Remember."
According to Variety, Sparks is writing an untitled novel and screenplay for Cyrus. And her mom Tish Cyrus gets to be exec producer. And, just like Moore broadened her appeal as an actress in “Walk,” Cyrus will also only act -– not sing -- in the new film.
However, we want to go on record hoping that there will not be a "License to Wed" in Miley's future.
Sparks told Variety that Miley Cyrus and her family "were familiar with his past work, including “The Notebook, “Message in a Bottle,” and his new “Nights in Rodanthe,” starring Diane Lane and Richard Gere, due out on Sept 26.
Disney exec Jason Reed met with Miley, who mentioned admiring "A Walk to Remember,” and before you can say two of those "7 Things I Hate," Sparks had an idea about a romance/family drama combo that pleased Cyrus, her family and the producers.
No word on plot yet. But we can safely assume/predict the film will be set in a small Southern town and involve a close-knit family and a precocious, outspoken teenage daughter who is maybe growing up a little too fast and finally realizes the importance of family and faith before it's too late. The teen lead will probably have a very close BFF, and there will definitely be a hot hunky boy in there, as well as a boy who maybe secretly adores the spunky girl but she doesn't feel that way about him so he settles for being her pal.
If Sparks is smart, he may want to juice it a little with some "Gossip Girly" Blair-versus-Serena competitive teen-girl edge. We don't want the Southern molasses to be laid on too thick, please.
Will you go see Miley in Nicholas Sparks' movie? C'mon, tell us!

I love Nicolas Sparks but I'm not sure about Miley playing one of his charactors or why he has decided to write a story catered to her.

In what world is Mandy portraying a character from one of Nicholas Spark’s books the same as Miley getting a script catered to her? I just finished reading Spark’s The Choice. His books move me and I would watch the movie just because he wrote it but that does not guarantee that the movie will be good.

Probably not! Since the first day I seen her show Hanna Montana she has gotten on my nerves. She is loud, not very pretty (she is still a little girl) and has problem acting like a lady. I do have compassion for her. She is in the world of "grown up children and doesn't stand much of a chance. Sure hope her parent know what thier doing.

Yes! I will so watch Miley in that movie. Of course.

I will definitely go see Miley as one of his characters or in his new movie or whatever. I love Miley. She's a great actress.. she's just made mistakes. But everyone has, just hers were made worse than they actually were. I mean honestly, I could name alot of kids her age who have taken pictures like that. Anyway, I would FOR SURE go see her in the new movie!:D And I'll read the book too. I love Nicholas Sparks. Best author in the world!:D:D:D A Walk to Remember, The Wedding, The Notebook, Dear John and The Choice= My favorite books.

I love Mandy Moore as an actor and a singer. She's a great actor, and her performance in A Walk to Remember was amazing.
Nicholas Sparks is one of my very favorite authors. But the whole Miley thing? I don't think it'll be a hit movie, to be honest. Miley- I'm not a fan of her. I don't think she compares with Mandy.

Absolutely not - I will not pay to watch a self proclaimed Diva who thinks she some how deserves everything handed to her. Mandy Moore has real talent - worth recognizing, Miley does not - andMandy was not a product for sale going to the highest bidder , as is Miley and the entire Cyrus clan proves to be. Billy couldn't make his success last - so now uses his talentless daughter to get gigs..really very sad

"And, just like Moore broadened her appeal as an actress in “Walk,” Cyrus will also only act -– not sing -- in the new film."
As I recall, Moore sang in "Walk" and even has a couple of songs on the soundtrack.

No! Miley can't act. This is going to be awful

For all you eight-year olds that just looove Miley and wish her the best, prepare to have your hopes crushed. Not only is she famous because of her (talentless) father, but she's also a horrible actress, grotesque singer, rich brat that likes to post half-naked photos of herself and her prep friends on the internet.
Not only that, oh no. Her music is flat. Meaningless. Cliche. I'm sorry, are these words too big for your blonde little heads? I don't care. Her songs aren't real, there only about love and fame. Nothing real, like sex, drugs, and rock and roll.
Just you wait. One day, you'll be out in the REAL world, and you'll see how much of a talentless little waste of human being she is. Just. You. Wait.

Stephanie..you're right. Mandy Moore did sing...she sang a solo in the quite part and she sang Only Hope. Those are two I know for sure she sang. And then she has Cry, that music video is on DVD. But I do however like Miley and will support her always. Though I do like Mandy Moore just a tid bit more than Miley. A Walk to Remember, License to Wed, and Because I Said So...she was amazing in all of them!:D

For all you who think it's only eight years olds and teenagers who like Miley and her singing and acting, I'm 51, my wife is in her 40's and I have 2 grown children and a daughter who is 12. We all love Miley's acting, and singing and so do all of our friends and their friends. You would not believe how many times our friends, who didn't know who she was, have come over to visit and we would be watching Miley's show or listening to her music and they were impressed by her acting or her singing. Then we would tell them who she was and they would be taken aback. They had heard so many bad rumours about her that they had already formed negative opinions. But when they didn't know it was her they liked her. It just goes to show how tainted people opinions can become, due to gossip or Disney's over selling of her image. The funny thing is I cannot recall anyone who has worked with her saying anything bad about her. In fact most have nothing but praise, and say she is very down to earth and very nice. My whole family and our friends plan on seeing any movie she would do. We thinks she is one of the best young actressess around right now.

Hey, Villisca, From the beginnig of known history music has been a way to celebrate the good things in life and help forget about the bad things in the world. That's how it began and that's is what most people want even today. If I want to see the bad in the world, all I have to do is watch the news or some stupid reality show. People like good clean music and movies and TV because they want to be entertained for a while and be allowed to forget about all the bad. And Billy Ray was a "D" list list celebrity when Miley auditioned for Hannah Montana. I doubt seriously that he would have had much influence on Disney's decision to choose Miley for the role. And teenager's do make mistakes, and it's up to adults in society to help then recognize and learn from those mistakes, not continuously punish and remind them of them. So if my words are too big for your blonde little head, I'm sorry.

I am not a huge fan of Miley. I don't hate her, but I don't love her. I agree that her mistakes are those any teen could make, but her acting is just really poor. Nicholas Sparks movies require great acting and Miley can barely act as Hannah Montana. I'll watch it because I love Nicholas Sparks, not Miley.

Mandy Moore has had a very stable, low-key and down to earth music and acting career. She has avoided controversy while maintaining a pleasant lifestyle. Miley would do well to follow in Mandy's footseps rather than the likes of Britney or Paris.

OMG...ok, I absolutely ADORE Nicholas Sparks and have read ALL of his books. I'm looking forward to reading his new book, The Lucky One. I have, so far, enjoyed the movies that have been made based on the books. Though they are different, and the books are ALWAYS better, they're still great! Especially, The Notebook. That book and movie make me cry everytime.
I've been a fan of Mandy Moore's for quite some time. I think she was really great in A Walk To Remember and I've always been skeptical about singers going into acting and vice versa; but I think Mandy transitioned very well into that role. However, Miley Cyrus? OMG! It surprises me that Nicholas Sparks is going to be writing a movie, just so she can act in it?!?!? What??? I think the Hannah Montana show was cute at the start...but with Miley appearing EVERYWHERE has become very annoying. Everywhere you turn there's a picture of Miley Cyrus. It's like living in Miley-land or something. I hope that this story proves to be untrue, but don't know if it will. I just can't believe that Sparks would just write a movie, instead of a book. I don't know...maybe one of his daughters is a big fan of hers or something.
I think the idea stinks, personally, but I'd still watch the movie because I love Nicholas Sparks.

so heres the deal when i first heard about this from my friend i was horrified because the notebook was an amazing book/ movie. i mean honestly making a notebook 2 would be wrong. personally my friends love the notebook we watch it when we have girls nite at our places.
and especialy miley shes just another start coming from disney wanting to do both acting and singing. honestly she should just can't do both. shes a good actor and singer but doing both is just a curse. it'll be bad for her.
unless you want to pull a lindsay lohan look what happen to her last movie.

I almost wish she would keep it to TV and music for a while. I hate to see her turn into another Britney Spears. She is way more talented than Britney ever was. If you don't believe me check out the acoustic performance she did http://www.wbul.com/cc-common/news/sections/special/mileycyrus.html

I love Nicholas Sparks. Miley Cyrus is just a disney girl waiting to break out onto more mature things. No I do not think she is following in Mandy Moore's footsteps because she obviously acts and convieniently sings in Hannah Montana. A lot of amazing people have come from Disney and I have very high hopes for Miley. She has a great family who will keep her in line. Im excited for this movie and I cant wait to see it!
p.s. I think i would have rather seen Miley Cyrus play as Savannah than Amanda Seyfreid. She fits the part WAY better.

What has NS done?! Writing!, a role for a teenager! Are you serious, this wannabe diva can't act or sing to save her life! NS, you just lost some fans who know talent...
Posted by: EH | October 01, 2008 at 05:14 PM
For those saying that Miley is a great actress, have you watched any of Miley's projects that included REAL ACTING? Or did you base your comments regarding her acting on the show Hannah Montana alone?
Posted by: Tashaness | October 05, 2008 at 05:45 AM
i cant get the logic behind why such a talented ,iconic and acomplished writer would pick.miley cyrus. shes country without any class.shes talentless, she cant sing, and have you seen her acting.she cant.aside from that shes to young! for any of the roles that she could possibly play.shes fresh out of disney.what talent could she possibly poses.and if she has its not like she shows it on a tv sitcom for little people. shes just not accomplished enough actress for this movie, and this is y she grows up to fast.if her parents had any sense they wouldnt let her act in such a mature movie.shes just a bitchy little diva who has had things handed to her her whole life. and thinks shes entitled to whatever. if ns had any sense he would pick someone a little more mature..i was looking forward to this movie until i heard she might be in it. and furthermore that girl has problems acting like a lady. flaunting her legs to random guys. she lets face it is a slut.this movie might have stood a chance if it werent for her.but ns picking her hes setting his own movie up for failure.nobody wants to see a disney pop princess whore,on a big film.yeah just stick to singing your teeny boper tunes, miley. i hate miley with a burning vengence to this day,so i am realy upset that she shows up in my fave authors movie.anyway.i hope she dies.
