Hillary Clinton, oops, Amy Poehler's leaving 'SNL'... Say it isn't so ...

Amy Poehler is spreading her small screen wings and flying away. She says she will take a break from "Saturday Night Live" after the November election to give birth to her first child.
"It's gonna be really hard — Boyz II Men hard — to say goodbye to yesterday," Amy says in the new issue of Men's Vogue. " 'SNL' was dangerous, late-night, last-minute and star-studded, but like any good drug, you need to know when to put it down."
And it gets worse, or better, depending on your point of view. She's not coming back to "SNL" after maternity leave. Instead Poehler is preparing to star in her own NBC series from the executive producers of "The Office." At least we have that to look forward to.
And there's always Poehler's animated kids' show "The Mighty B!" in which she portrays overachieving Honeybee scout Bessie Higgenbottom. We have yet to tune into it, but we may have to now.

Too bad to see her go. At least we still have the adorable Casey Wilson to watch every week. If only she was funnier...

In REAL WORTH WHILE news today: The world is spinning in that direction and the DJI droped 500 points today and will not come back for a bit unless the Fed heats up the credit markets. Reading about white trash in Hollywood wont get you ahead in life. Further, losing weight is about eating less and working out more. Quit it with the 27,000 diet fads. get your fat butt on a Stairmaster now. Eventually as you become more successful from doing rather then reading, real news wont be infected by malware such as this lousy story.

Nobody cares about SNL anymore. They must have the worst writers on TV. I can't believe it's still even on the air! SNL is simply living off an old reputation. I hate to admit it but MadTV is a much better show.

If you have young kids, they will LOVE watching The Mighty B (I love it, too, and Amy's voice is so recognizable and funny as Bessie)!

People actually still watch this SNL drivel? Now THAT'S sad....
Posted by: Azazel | September 15, 2008 at 03:52 PM
The Mighty B! really is funny. It is the next Spongebob in the way all of those other cartoons that appeared since Spongebob's beginning were meant to be but aren't.

I think the Republicans are too funny...you can't touch Palin or say anything bad about her but if the skit was Bill Clinton, you would love it!! The poor delicate flower she is...i mean pig with lipstick...hehehehe

Why do people, like Janor, give such long serious answers to little things like this? If the world is spinning in 'that direction' and it is more about 'doing' then why waste your precious time pontificating on an article about SNL?

Sorry about my earlier comment. I should not have called anyone white trash. I have severe mental problems, and I am jealous of those with success. Amy is a wonderful performer. I will go kill myself now.

The MIghty B is consistently funnier than SNL.
All the great comedy writers used to work for SNL nowadays they do cartoons- Simpsons, Spongbob, etc.

She's not funny. She's annoying. Tina Fey is much funnier.

I knew this was going to happen. She has a lot of talent. The Mighty B is GREAT. I catch myself watching it when the kids aren't even home.

What if John McCain were a former president of the Harvard Law Review? What if Barack Obama finished fifth from the bottom of his graduating class?
What if McCain were still married to the first woman he said “I do” to? What if Obama were the candidate who left his first wife after she no longer measured up to his standards?
What if Michelle Obama were a wife who not only became addicted to painkillers, but acquired them illegally through her charitable organization?
What if Cindy McCain graduated from Harvard? What if Obama were a member of the “Keating 5”?
What if McCain were a charismatic, eloquent speaker?
If these questions reflected reality, do you really believe the election numbers would be as close as they are?
This is what racism does. It covers up, rationalizes and minimizes positive qualities in one candidate and emphasizes negative qualities in another when there is a color difference.

Amy has a good chance of winning the supporting actress Emmy next Sunday. Great way for her to leave SNL, going out on top. Can't wait to see her new sitcom!!!

who gives a flying trapeze artist's duck what they're doing? Is she the only privileged woman working in television who is having a baby?

That show made me sick and caused me to become a drugstore hooker who fell in love with the chemist who drugged me and sold me into slavery for ten dollars and then has the hide to send me the cleanup bill which I didn't pay anyway because of that show it made me sick you see. you know what I mean?

Yes Tina Fey is the funnier one and i wish that she had been given a bigger role last Sat. Let's hope that SNL can keep her even though she has a day job at 30 Rock that she has contractual obligations to (although the producers of 30 Rock would be stupid to not realize that her SNL Palin exposure would not raise their ratings as well)
Posted by: Larissa | September 15, 2008 at 09:43 PM
That's too bad, I really liked Amy on SNL, but the writing has gone a bit downhill over the past several seasons. Poehler is good, but Tina Fey has really taken over the spotlight lately as the most talented female comedian on NBC. Let's hope the sitcom is good.

Haha, Brie..you just summed up what I feel is the mold within America's drywall. Person like you ought to be running for Vice P.

We’re not talking about Rezko and Ayers stuff which have been known since the primaries and continue to expand. We’re talking about a vast surge in scrutiny surrounding Obama’s beloved ACORN, about alienating half the voting populace in America by having surrogates question whether a mother should work. More, we’re talking about Obama’s potential violations of the Logan Act by tampering with U.S. negotiations with Iraq in order to impact the elections. The New York Post reported Barack Obama privately tried to persuade Iraqi political leaders to stall an agreement on scaling back American troops in Iraq while publicly campaigning for a speedy withdrawal, Obama’s request for a delay was a major theme of his talks with Iraqi leaders in Baghdad in July, Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari said in an interview with the Post. Obama said that Congress should be involved in negotiations on the status of American troops, excluding the Bush administration in its “state of weakness and political confusion,” according to the report. Obama also reportedly tried to persuade the U.S. commanders, including Gen. David Petraeus, to offer a “realistic withdrawal date.” They declined, the Post said. As mentioned early this morning on American Sentinel, allegations that he attempted to tamper with negotiations in Iraq in order to benefit his campaign could, lead to actual prosecution.

Wow I can't believe how much negativity and hate some of you have. Hope your lives get better because it looks like some of you have a lot of anger. If some of you hate SNL so much then stop watching it and commenting on it. Duh.
