'Dark Knight' star Morgan Freeman injured in Mississippi car crash
Oscar-winning actor Morgan Freeman has been injured in what was called a "serious car accident" in Mississippi last night.
TMZ is reporting that the "Dark Knight" star, and Hollywood's favorite voice of God, was in a car accident around 11:30 Sunday night, just north of Ruleville, Miss.
Freeman was airlifted from the crash scene to a hospital in Memphis, Tenn. The news of the wreck was initially reported by MediaTakeout.
Freeman's condition is unknown. State troopers told reporters that the actor was talking before he was taken to the hospital.
An unidentified female passenger was also in the car. Her condition is not known.
Even though he's a hot property in Hollywood, Freeman still calls Mississippi home.
He and his wife, Myrna, live near Charleston, Miss., on a 126-acre ranch with a main house, peach trees and horse stables.
Freeman built the ranch on the same land his grandparents worked, which is where he spent much of his childhood.
Fingers crossed this iconic actor and his passenger will be OK. More news as it develops.

Aw, that's horrible! I hope he'll be OK. It feels weird that I just saw him The Dark Knight two weeks ago and now for this to happen. Is there some curse on that film?

I saw an interview with Friedman in MS within the past year or two, and he was driving a 7-series BMW then. The Maxima is not his primary vehicle...probably is driven by family or assistants.

I'm glad a man of his resources drives a '97 Maxima, which is a safe car. He's not a shallow man.

Stan11003: There are less safe cars, too. A Nissan Maxima isn't a small car. Sounds like the real question is, "why is the rich guy driving a beater?" Well, if you don't understand why someone might drive a ten year-old car when they could afford much more, then nobody will be able to explain it to you.
MF - You are one of the best - please get well soon.

Just kidding, Morgan. Please try hard to get better. I've known you since the Second Grade when you were helping me read on The Electric Company on PBS TV. I was thrilled when I first saw you hit mainstream movies.

i just hope he's not in a bad condition. it would be aweful to lose such a wonderful actor. shawshank redemption was by far his greatest performance, or at least that's what I think. I never get tired of seing that movie. get well Mr. Freeman

I was very sad to hear the news on Our (HOPEFUL) NAACP Speaker for October '2008. I was doing a follow-up call to the letter of request to have him to come to Pine Bluff, Arkansas to be the Keynote Speaker @ our 17th Annual Dove Freedom Funds Banquet and heard the news that he had been in a Car Accident.
Our President, Dorothy J. Oliver and the entire Branch is praying for his speedy recovery and that he will be able to come to us in October. God Bless and heal your body real soon, keep the positive ATTITUDE. Again, MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND KEEP YOU SAFE IN HIS CARE.
