Is Tom Cruise pining for a comedy career? Or any film that will have him?

Tomcruise

After getting good buzz for his comedic turn in "Tropic Thunder," Tom Cruise may be in the mood to lighten up.

His film career, that is.

Word from the Hollywood Reporter is that Cruise is loosely attached to "Food Fight," a Working Title comedy about a snooty New York chef (Cruise) who must cook meals at a school cafeteria.

Cruise hasn't done many comedies since his 1983 "Risky Business." His last funny role was in the 1996 film "Jerry Maguire." But he has done other funny small bits in films like "Austin Powers in Goldmember."

Cruise's next movie in theatres will be United Artists' "Valkyrie," in which he plays Klaus von Stauffenberg, the Nazi commander who plotted to kill Adolf Hitler.

Definitely not funny.

But, hey, it can't hurt to hint to the industry trades that the actor would like to consider drama and comedy scripts.

The last good Tom Cruise Movie I saw was Jerry Maguire and he was hilarious in Tropic Thunder. That's where he belongs, and I've been saying that for the past 4 movies he's been in, none of which I saw.

I have always adored Tom Cruise and grew up watching his films. Then I found out the truth about Scientology, which is basiclly a criminal organization posing as a religion. Anyone would have to be out of their mind to be associated with what Scientology does to people, including beatings, murder, extortion. Dear God. Tom Cruise has to be certifiably mad to be a lifelong member of that pseudo-(ca-ching!) spiritual mafia. What a waste of an otherwise good man.

Tom Cruise will always have my respect no matter what his belief systems. Cruise OWNS.

Wow - sounds just like Catholicism to me!

I just don't like TC because he IS TC,. And he is TC in EVERY movie he does. Yawn.
