'Twilight' star Rob Pattinson: The new Beatles?

One of the hottest events at San Diego's Comic-Con this week was the upcoming film "Twilight" starring Kristen Stewart ("Into the Wild," "Panic Room") and Robert Pattinson as star-crossed young lovers, one of whom just happens to one of the bloodsucking undead, based on the romantic horror novel by Stephenie Meyer.

You may recall Rob Pattinson as Cedric Diggory in the fourth "Harry Potter" film. He also played Rawdy Crawley in "Vanity Fair" with Reese Witherspoon. He's a stage-trained, London-born actor (born May 13, 1986).

Los Angeles Times online reporter Denise Martin chatted backstage with the hunky Pattinson, whom some are comparing to the vampire world's John Lennon/Paul McCartney, before he went onstage to talk to the fans who had swarmed like Beatle fans to the event.

Asked if he had a favorite superhero: Pattinson gave a slightly naughty reply, "Spider-Man. I like the outfit; I like a little bit of spandex."

Oh, don't we all, don't we all.

Check out the interview HERE and then enjoy the trailers below.

Nothing like a sexy, dangerous bad boy to get all the girls' (and guys') blood boiling.

Whew, it's gonna be hard to wait until December for this bloody delight. Guys, sharpen your incisors. And parents, you better lock up your daughters. Drac's back!

Rob Pattinson is a brilliant actor - I dont think all Twilight fans realise that yet but they will and he'll be even more popular. I really think he has a chance of being the first British film actor to be at the very top of Hollywood like Pitt and Damon. He's only just turned 22 so has plenty of time to develop further. Looking forward to seeing him as Salvador Dali in Little Ashes in October and a British film called How To Be which looks awesome. He has charisma, screen presence and an intensity that leaps off the screen but is also a fine comedy actor. Watch him in the Bad Mother's Handbook and see him play the ultimate geek.

Whats charming about him is that he doesnt have a clue how gorgeous he is. He's also a fine musician so we really are being spoilt arent we.

robert pattison is sexy as as i dont no what :). haha what i would give to see him in a pair of spandix

I like Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen, he is perfect for this character, very sweet and happy boy too!!

Robert has really outdone himself in channelling Edward by not only looking the part but portraying his layered emotions so perfectly.
I'm looking forward to seeing Robert in Twilight and Little Ashes.
He's also a stunning musician. Guys, learn from RPattz. He is the perfect man,

I can´t wait to see the movie
Comic-con was amazing¡¡
<3 RPattzz

He's just not gorgeous he can actually ACT.---stage, screen, tv, drama, comedy, classics, and can compose music, play instruments and sing.

Wendy, I completely agree. I too watched him in The Bad Mother's handbook, and his geeky acting was superb! I cringed whenever he carried out a particularly nerdy action.

Also, there's something incredibly sexy about a gorgeous guy who has no idea how good-looking he is! I wish more guys were like that. Not to mention his hilariously sarcastic sense of humor and his talented music skills... Rob is a lot more than a pretty face - and that is why so many girls are drawn to him.

I agree that people arent aware of how good Rob is as an actor. The synopsis of Little Ashes looks amazing. Very sexy. I'd love to read an interview with Rob on that film.
Here's the description

I would give anything to see Rob in a spider man costume hahaha

Thanks for giving Rob some coverage. I think he's a very exciting talent and not just a pretty face.

Here's a trailer for one new film which couldnt be more different from Twilight

But I'm really looking forward to seeing him as Salvador Dali above all.

I admire how he's trying to take on varied and testing roles and not falling back on his looks for parts.

This montage gives a good flavour of a couple of performances

Not the unreleased films of course

I'd dearly love Rob to play Captian Blood in the new film Philip Noyce is making. Also Perseus in the Clash of the Titans reboot. Also maybe the lead in the new Dambusters film that Peter jackson is producing.

As others have said he is a very good actor.

Love love love twilight and Rob is awesome. I even have my wardrobe planned for the Borders release party around here. I'm wearing my "I <3 Forks" shirt from twilightshirts.com:

Rob excites me like no other young actor. Obviously he has wonderful looks but its more than that. There's a timeless quality about him. Like a movie star of the 1950's. He oozes sex appeal and there's an air of mystery about him. I hope the LA Times follows his career closely. I love the idea of him getting a makeover. Dress him like a film star of the golden age in Hollywood. He'll look sensational with that strong jaw line of his and wonderful frame.

Im a big fan of those books and i can't wait for the movie to come out. ps Robert is absolutley gorgeous.

I'd like him to get the roles that goes Shea Leboeuf's way. Rob is more versatile and a hell of a lot more handsome.

He'd be wonderful as John Lennon in the new bio pic thats going to be made.

He seems stunned by fans reactions which is understandable as they were baying for his blood not that long ago. Now that they've seen how wonderful he is they've come round in a big way. He was under huge pressure when he was filming. Bless him.

I agree about the makeover. The girls at LA Times should get together and work out an article to include it. He hasnt got a clue how to dress or look after himself. He needs to be shown. Do a Pygmalion on him.

I am a new Twilighter and absolutely love the phenomenon for the movie. I watched the trailer for the movie and was flabbergasted and how well Rob portrays Edward. I am so in love with him!!!

He has an aura of a rock star about him. He radiates sex appeal. Plus the fact he's a brilliant actor. I am so looking forward to seeing him play Salvador Dali

I am a new twilighter... I loved the books and I can't wait to see the first movie! I just hope that they decide to make a movie out of the whole saga... with Robert Pattinson playing the lead. He is absolutely perfect as Edward... I've got my Edward shirt from the Borders release party to wear to the movie!

I love Robert Pattison!! and I agree with Helen. He looks and acts like a rockstar. He has a lot of sex appeal about him. He is probably going to be the best british actor of the decade. Just like Keira knightly was the best British actress of her decade and still is.

When I read the first book, I saw it in my head like a movie. I had a special thought of what edward was to look like. But I could not describe it. When I heard they were making a movie about it I wanted to know who was going to play Edward. When Robert Pattinson got picked for the part I was so happy. He is everything i could have imagined. then when i thought about who i had wanted edward to be Robert had been who I wanted all along. He will do perfect for the role of edward. And kristen too. they have good chemistry so it will turn out to be a great movie. I already have my team edward shirt for the movie premerie too!!

While, I cannot wait to see Rob Pattinson as Edward Cullen, I hope that he stays true to his immense talent and do more independent films. Both Little Ashes and How To Be are films of this caliber and show that Rob is willing to take a risk at edgier and riskier roles. I just watched The Haunted Airman and The Bad Mother's Handbook and was even more impressed. He is just exceptional! I see him as the next River Phoenix or Heath Ledger, I just hope that the pitfalls of fame do befall him.

lf l could meet edward and ask him a few questions that would be my most greatest thing in the world p.s l love you edward..........

Rob is the new James Dean and Elvis rolled in to one - he has the talent, he is not a teen idol, he has a mature fan base out there Summit doesn't seem to be aware of yet - but he is the actor that we'll be talking about for the next 20 to 30 years. Not just another pretty face

i love rob as much as anybody but he is not even close to the beatles
