Rose McGowan dumps Robert Rodriguez - does that create jobs for three actresses?

Rose_mcgowan_robert_rodriquezRose McGowan has reportedly broken up with her fiancé, director Robert Rodriguez.

And Page Six wonders if the split will mean more work for other actresses.

McGowan, who appeared in his most recent flop, "Grindhouse," as a girl with a machine-gun leg, was rumored to appear in at least three upcoming Rodriguez films: a "Barbarella" remake, "Red Sonja" and "Women in Chains!"

If you've spent any time at all on the Web, you may have noted that not everyone was thrilled with the choice of McGowan (best known for "Charmed" and dating goth rocker Marilyn Manson) for the "Barbarella" lead, played by Jane Fonda and directed by her then-honey, director Roger Vadim.

Who'll step into Rose's stilettos? Maybe a post-baby Jessica Alba. But we'd like to see "Gossip Girl" Blake Lively as the intergalactic babe in "Barbarella."

Rodriguez ("Spy Kids," "From Dusk Till Dawn," "Sin City, "Grindhouse") was married  to his longtime producer Elizabeth Avellan (they have five kids) before the on-set romance rumors came out and the couple hit Cannes together.

Lesson learned, Robert? They call them 'on-set romances' for a reason.

Grindhouse isn't really a movie, it was just the marketing name for the two movies - Death Proof and Planet Terror - shown together. And in all fairness to Rodriguez, Planet Terror was the good half.

I don't know if I trust these rumors, but it's probably better for Rodriguez's movies if true.

I just read somewhere else that McGowan's publicist says it's not true.

Too bad. I too was hoping that Rodriguez learned his lesson about on-set romances. McGowan is fine in some things, but I don't want to see her be the lead of those three movies just because of who her boyfriend/fiance is.
