Michelle Obama is Vanity Fair's best dressed? Vote for your fave on Dish Rag!
Michelle Obama, that is. Vanity Fair has named presumptive Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama's wife #1 on its 2008 Best Dressed List, calling her "our commander-in-sheath."
Clever.
Michelle beat out some stiff competition, including designer darling, former model and French First Lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, presumptive Queen Kate Middleton, "Sex and the City" star Sarah Jessica Parker (this has got to be better than her recent Maxim honors), Oscar-winning actress Tilda Swinton, cosmetics queen Evelyn Lauder, the real Princess Mathilde of Belgium and a few fashionable women you've probably never heard of.
On the male call: Daniel Craig, Matt Lauer, ab fab David Beckham, Kanye West, a couple of real princes and Morley Safer (hunh?), Karl Lagerfeld, who usually wears gloves, no matter the temperature, and Julian Schnabel (who usually wears purple pajamas).
Haute couples included: Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, Kelly Lynch and Mitch Glazer.

OK, so who did VF leave out? How about Reese Witherspoon? Keira Knightley? Blake Lively? Jennifer Aniston? Beyonce? Lindsay Lohan? Cindy McCain?
Nominate your favorite female star for the Dish Rag's first annual Best-Dressed List. Leave the name(s) in the comments section on this post.
On Friday, we'll run our readers poll of the most stylish celebs with photos. If we get enough, we may even do a gallery of your favorite picks and why this weekend.

She looks good, Much better then cindy. No offense Cindy just seems so privledged. Upper Class. McCain would look good in a walmart greeter uniform, I believe that would be a job that would suite him. Could you imagine McCain even having enough energy to run your local Mcdonalds. Seriously. Think about it next time your in line watching the Mcdonalds manager run around taking orders and shouting orders. McCain couldnt do it. So I ask You, how will McCain be president??? Looks as though the RNC got behind the wrong candidate and they will pay for it., Guess they should of let the primary season play out without trying to minupulate the outcome. My candidate lost, my vp isnt going to be on the ticket. Wow bummer. Good news is i think McCain is just about done, I wouldnt doubt the GOP ditch him at the last second and run a younger more charasmatic charachter. They could site his Cancer scare as the reason. I dont doubt that they will, Becuase he is becoming more unelectable by the day, with gaff after gaff. Did you see him knock all that stuff off the shelf at the supermarket. the video is at http://www.mccanes.com all the while barack obama is looking like an NBA super star, (arrogence and all) even taking time to stop and have a cigar break video at http://www.theobamaplan.com I mean really what is the GOP going to do. McCain cannot win at this point and we havnt even started the debates.

oh, please. vanity fair is so far to the left they would fall off the map if the world were flat. this is a political choice, pure and simple. she is not pretty, and just dresses in a classic fashion - no real style sense. what have we come to in this world.

Sara's comment is correct - this is an obvious political choice. And John, your comment has nothing to do with the Best-Dressed issue; it's only a mean-spirited attack on John McCain. Get a life.

Michelle Obama always looks stylish and approachable. Cindy McCain, although pretty, looks severe, tight and off-putting.

Ha, ha, ha, LOL! What else can they do? Do they think this might help him on the polls? Don't think so!

How interesting. Did they leave the Beckhams out? They are so classy
Posted by: guest | July 29, 2008 at 12:33 PM
Your headline is misleading. They did not name her as best dressed, per se, she is ONE of the best dressed.
As for the others you ask about, some are not so much international as national and not all are that famous outside these borders. The list is international and subjective at best. Lindsay Lohan? OK

I'm no Michelle Obama fan, but I must agree. Cindy dresses stiff and boring (beyond her age). Michelle's style is fashionable and classy, without looking stiff.

Are they serious? lol America is screwed.

You've got to be kidding! Sorry, not even close to best dressed. And what a tacky way to make a political statement!

Nice dress on Michelle... best one on her yet. But Cindy McCain is gorgeous!! Cindy's style is too conservative for me, but I still can't take my eyes off her. I like it that Cindy's gentle and has good posture. some my say that's stiff and "uprighty"... it's lady like to me. My opinion.

I love Michelle Obama's style, she is so real and Cindy McCain is too stiff and uptight.

Kate Middleton is not a presumptive queen, she is not even a finance and doubt if she every will be.

Mrs. Obama missed the mark with her choice of attire on election night. Her dress was inappropiate...................way off mark.
Sorry Mrs............Cindy McCain is pure class

If this is what we have to look forward to the next 4 years God help us. And everyone was taking about Sarah Palin. Sarah has more style in her big toe than Michelle Obama will ever have. I have yet to see her dressed in anything that looks good. Please lose the flowers on the dresses. This looks like something a 70 year old gramdma would wear. But of course we know who Vanity Fair and all the other mags and news stations are for. I just pray this is a fast 4 years, if I hear Obama much more I am going to puke.
