John McCain's new ad compares Barack Obama to Paris and Britney: low blow or right on?
Talk about name calling and mud-slinging.
The new John McCain-approved, anti-Barack Obama TV commercial puts the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee in the same league as sex-tape socialite Paris Hilton and head-shaving pop star Britney Spears.
And it calls Obama "the biggest celebrity in the world," and asks if that's enough to qualify him to lead this country.
OK, now the presidential race is really getting ugly. And it's so early for these kinds of tactics.
Is this all ya got, Johnny boy?
But I bet Paris and Britney are flattered to be in Obama's company.
What do you think? Is McCain on the money or out of his mind? Will Obama be furious or flattered?
Who are you gonna vote for, after seeing this ad?

Its sad to see McCain and his team going negative with their latest ads-
It would be like us say
McCain/Bush/Cheney/Rove/Bullet
Come to think of it isn't it Bush's team running McCain's Campaign now?
Issues We care About!
The Republicans and the Bush administration should be held accountable not only for the cost of the Iraq War but the 492 billion dollar deficit.
- Part of the cost are the 30,000 USA Troops wounded.
-Start laying the groundwork to move the the US away from oil dependency.
As soon as the 2008 election is over The Republicans will start running for the next elections in 2010 and 2012. This is the reason gridlock doesn't help this country.
The Republicans as a group should "pay a price" for the Gridlock.

Ha ha, John McCain actually thinks Americans will gladly give up their country's beautiful beaches to save a few pennies at the pump!
No, really, is that all you got, John? Britney and Paris? Seems more like your intellectual level than Barack's, who is a graduate of Columbia and Harvard.

Keep em coming Johnny. We the people of the world shall watch you sail, out the park. Home-run all the way, to the White House.
The world will respect America then, not fear us, respect US.

Elizabeth. why do you call this "name calling" and "mudslinging'? Saying that denigrates both Britney and Paris. By the way ... I don't know for sure ,,, but I would consider Britney and Paris (probably Britney more) more real than Obama. At least Britney kept her babies. Obama has unabashedlly stood for abortion on demand. How many partially delivered black fetuses will never get the chance to run for POTUS or even vote?
Posted by: Sam | July 30, 2008 at 06:49 PM
McCain's got nothing positive to say about himself so all he can do is attack Obama. How far you have fallen oh Johnny boy and to think that we used to respect you. What a sell out.
Disgusting.

Let me preface my comment by saying that I am a democrat...
With that said, I tend to agree with John McCain. I'm so sick and tired of being at the check out stand of my local grocery store and seeing my party's presidential nominee -- and possibly the future president of the US -- VOLUNTARILY on the cover of tabloid magazines. First Us Weekly and now People?
Purposefully or not, he has set himself up for such criticisms as McCain's. What's next? Paparazzi pics of him and his wife vacationing in St. Tropez with Jay-Z and Beyonce? Pap pics of them at the America's Best Dance Crew season finale? Drinks at Goa with LC and Audrina? Front row at Fashion Week at the Marc Jacob show between P.Diddy and the Beckhams?
You're an elected official, not a reality TV star!!! Get to work!!!

no, obama is actually a celebrity for a reason; he's running for president. McCain on the other hand, just jumped the shark. This almost goes up with Bob Dole''s election even pondering about why american voters are so stupid.

SInce McCain has decided to bring these celebrities into the discussion, I took a look at some celebrity photos of McCain, Obama, Spears and Hilton. In the celebrity realm, physical appearance is very important, and is therefore fair game for comment.
To my eyes, McCain and Spears actually have a lot in common in the arm-length department. I do agree with McCain that by this one morphological criterion Hilton and Obama are similar.

The comparison hurts because it's right on. I hope this is a wake up call to all those who admire Mr. Obama with star struck drooling teenage adulation. Mr. Obama is very charismatic so the adoration is understandable but it's a silly way to pick a president and will have consequences. Those who vote for Mr. Obama will deserve him as a leader. Mr. McCain may not be sexy but he is a man of proven self sacrificing integrity and honor.

Well, Edgy, if it weren't for he and his wife's "celebrity" appearances on talk shows and in tabloids, a good portion of America wouldn't give a second thought to the election, or the candidates' positions. He's a smart man to come down to the intellectual level of today's Americans; doesn't make it a decent thing to do for McCain to lash out against him for it. If anything, I think this will turn more people against McCain, and rightfully so.

It's all moot anyway. McCain can't win without a miracle, and that's not happening. Liberals are staying away from him and the religious right isn't pleased with his lack of piety. Accusing Obama of being all fluff and no substance is easy to do, but equally easy to refute.

The country is in much too much trouble for this type of inane campaign. Let's leave celebrities out of this and discuss THE REAL ISSUES.
Posted by: The Real Issue | July 30, 2008 at 08:15 PM
Why does McCain have to do this ? Does he have nothing better to do then post up things Obama ? Oh wow , that is so immature & kid like. Hes running For USA president , not running for a 5th grade election. No matter what McCain does , i will always want Obama to be the next president. He has more knowledge & hes younger. I know that doesnt matter but think about it.

First thing : I think McCain needs to give the HiItons a refund on the $4600 they donated to his campaign. If he is an honest man, he will do that IMMEDIATELY.
Second thing: he's comparing a US Senator to pop stars and socialites Where is his respect for the US Senate? And what about his respect for the AMERICANS who elected Obama to the Senate?
It's sad to him disrespect the very institution to which he himself belongs. And the voters who elected his rival to that institution.

How is this ugly mudslinging? It seems that both candidates are doing a good job not to mudsling.
This ad is well done.

McCain is the ugly duckling who is jealous of the star quarerback. He just can't compete with the charm and intelligence of Obama. This high-school jealousy is simply unbecoming of a presidential candidate!
Posted by: kevstar | July 31, 2008 at 01:12 AM
McCain's campaign is out of touch.
Does he think we will confuse two rich party happy white trash sluts and a black man running to be President?
Posted by: Jim from Westlake | July 31, 2008 at 01:28 AM
Looks like McCain's camp must be really getting desperate.
Can't take my eyes off you, Brit / Paris. What's next? Desperate John.

This is all the doing of Karl Rove and his minions. McCain, for whom I USED to have respect, should be ashamed of himself for letting these swift-boat attackers spearhead his campaign. Have you noticed that once they came on board everything got nasty? Unacceptable.
I would love it if Britney Spears sued John McCain's ass for using her likeness without permission or compensation.
McCain is so obviously grasping at whatever straws he can find. The scary thing is, Americans, on the whole, aren't the brightest of people. They fall for this crap. As a result, we are a laughing stock the world over.
Obama could help to reverse that. McCain is just the same-old same-old. He's had his chance to change things with all of his "vast" experience in the Senate. Yet here we are.
Obama all the way, thanks.

It is time to FACT check.
1. Democrats Passed NAFTA
2. Democrats Passed Banking Bill
3. Democrats Vetoed Oil Expiration
4. Democrats Have Lobbyist (Teachers Union) in their pockets
5. Democrats raise taxes (Look at the Clinton Gore tax on your cell phone bill)
6. Barrack Hussian Obama says he won’t raise taxes on those making less than 250,000 year but if you increase my Social Security Tax then does that not raise my taxes. And if I have investments that earn Capital Gains Does that not raise my taxes.
7. Let’s try a real change this election year and be Honest tell the truth and wake up America the truth hurts.

MC CAIN IS RIGHT ON!!!!! WAY TO GO!!! LOVE IT!! OBAMA IS NOT READY OR EXPERIENCED ENOUGH TO RUN THIS COUNTRY. HE SHOULD TRY A SMALLER COUNTRY TO GET HIS EXPERIENCE!!

Laughing Stocks the world over? Maybe we should remind the World Over the sacrafice we have made for those people. Maybe we should be giving speeches about our Sacrafice and How much Aide we give around the world. We consume 2/3rds of its resources yet we provide 2/3rds of its security and Aide. Hmmm What are we sorry for again? Nice guys finish last and maybe we should stop being so darn nice. If we are a laughing stock around the world why do so many come here for health care? Why do they turn to the US for security? Why are our boarders overrun with those wanting to come here. WAKE UP AMERICA get informed dont settle for being informed. Do you homework take your medicine. By the People For the People so if your a laughing stock maybe you should pledge your alegence to the Flag of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. And stop blaming our elected officals. WAKE UP AMERICA

Obama's "celebrity" factor and popularity does not have anything to do with what Hilton or Spears created with their drama. I think of Obama as the Kennedy of my generation. Obama's popularity with the public is about hope and change, not just star appeal.
McCain is at the mudslinging and bullsh*tting phase already because he knows he hasn't got a chance in hell to win this election. People are tired of the same old crap we've gotten for the last 8 years.
