John McCain's European vacation: If it's Tuesday, it must be Czechoslovakia!
Several political blogs couldn't help but notice recently that Republican presumptive presidential candidate John McCain has forgotten that Czechoslokia is no longer a country.
And not for the first time.
According to TPM, in a press conference on July 14, McCain spoke about his concern about the Russian government "reducing energy supplies to Czechoslovakia."
Yeah, um, the country was split into two countries roughly 15 years ago after the Velvet Revolution and renamed the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Which wouldn't be such a big deal if McCain hadn't forgotten that he also forgot this a few months ago on the Don Imus Show, when he said he would "work closely with Czechoslovakia and Poland and other countries" to install the European Missile Defense System in Poland."
And, oh, dear, he forgot again during a GOP debate in 2007 when he said, "The first thing I would do is make sure that we have a missile defense system in place in Czechoslovakia and Poland, and I don't care what his objections are to it."
Some foreign policy astuteness ya got there, John.
What was that about Barack Obama being a fledgling foreign policy expert?

Fantastic. If elected and he launches an attack on Iran, it'll be interesting to see where the planes actually show up.

This is a lack of respect for other nations at the highest level. Screwing up once is ignorance, twice is embarrassing, three times is an insult.
