Will Depp be Wonderland's Mad Hatter? Tea, anyone?

Johnnydeppblowdeauville01There are web rumblings that Johnny Depp may play the Mad Hatter in a new 3D production of "Alice in Wonderland," directed by his old pal Tim Burton.

Australian actress Mia Wasikowska is set to play the title role in the Disney production.

The film reportedly starts next year and will be released in the summer of 2010.

I'm a huge Depp fan (always have been) but I kinda hope this A. isn't really true or B. doesn't happen.

Hasn't he sorta done that character already in "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory?" And can't Burton make a movie with Depp, just once? I know it's blasphemy, but..

Of course, Depp could bring his own special stamp to the role. He always does.

But how about a remake of "The Wizard of Oz" with Depp as the Man Behind the Curtain, the Scarecrow, the Cowardly Lion, the Tin Man AND Dorothy?

Maybe Toto, too?

Now that would be cool!

Tim Burton HAS made films without Johnny Depp ... ever hear of Big Fish? Batman? PeeWee's Big Adventure? Beatlejuice?

I'm thrilled that Johnny is going to play the Mad Hatter (as I believe has now been confirmed). This character is NOT like Willy Wonka. Depp WILL bring his own special stamp to the role. And what's blasphemy is suggesting anyone do a re-make of The Wizard of Oz. The original is far too much of a classic. It's like suggesting someone re-make The Sound of Music or Gone With The Wind. What an utterly ridiculous notion!

I, for one, look forward to the 2010 release of Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland.

According to The Omniverse Almanac, Tom Cruise is actually one of the good
guys inhabiting this planet, along with Steven Splielberg, Riccardo Mariti,
Johnny Depp, Will Smith, Jessica Biel, Justin Timberlake, Bill Gates,
Stephen Hawkings, Laurence Dale, the Dalai Lama...

AMAZING I AM THRILLED AT THIS NEWS I LOVE EVERYTHING DEPP DOES...I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE WHAT CREATIVITY HE BRINGS TO THIS ROLE! YAY :-)
