Vanity Fair sez 'no dice' to Gina Gershon's lawyers
Last week, actress Gina Gershon's lawyers demanded that Vanity Fair retract a story by Todd Purdum that Gershon's counsel claimed insinuates that she and former President Bill Clinton were seeing each other while his wife was campaigning to become the Democratic Party's nominee for president.
But Vanity Fair sez no dice. VF spokesperson Beth Kseniak has responded:
"Todd Purdum’s article does not indicate that former President Bill Clinton had an improper relationship with Gina Gershon. The story merely examines the concerns of some of Clinton’s aides about reports of his behavior. We don’t believe that any correction is warranted."
So unless someone wants to take this to another very expensive level, perhaps someone should just settle down and submit to the free publicity.
Captured by TMZ's cameras last week in New York, and asked about her relationship with Clinton, Gershon refused to comment and instead referred the videographers to her website, ginagershon.com, where you can view her new video "Pretty Girls on Prozac" and purchase her new CD "In Search of Cleo."
Shall I repeat that?

Since when did newspaper editors allow their reporters to misspell words? "Sez" is not in any english dictionary that I've ever seen. This should never have made it past the editor's desk. No excuses.

Purdum is married to Dee Dee Meyers.
Dee Dee Meyers is the sister of Betsy Meyers.
Betsy Meyers is the Chief Operating Officer of the Obama campaign.
So if the shoe fits ,,,,

I agree with Adam. The English language is in enough trouble without major publishers allowing their staff to take liberties with a word that is only FOUR LETTERS LONG. What are they doing, trying to save money on text messages?

"So if the shoe fits ,,,,"
I am not following your logic on that one - Dee Dee Meyers worked for the Clinton Administration.

During the eighteenth -century, one of the most fertile periods of growth in the political theory and literature build upon the English language, educated people tended not to be such sticklers on small details such as spelling. The real issue was whether one managed to communicate well, and pandering to the pedants is a trifling concern. The vernacular grows, yo!

Instead of repeating the web site just add "visit my web site HRC.com...send money.

Always a mystery why young wild things like scruffy over the hill old guys...Maybe she explains it on her web site.

"Sez" is not a word. What is your major in, "ebonix"?
Posted by: Donny brook | June 09, 2008 at 10:39 AM
Well, we live in the 21st century, not the 18th, and as a reporter, editor, etc., you have a responsibility to your readers to be accurate in what you write and print. Suppose some 8th grade student starts referencing this article as a reason to change the way they spell, "says". As a journalist, you are being totally irresponsible in printing "sez" versus "says". Not to mention being unprofessional in trying to defend your behavior rather than apologizing and fixing your f aux pas. Show a little humility , for crying out loud.

Hi, Adam.
Listen, if you're going to pick nits, you might start with your own faulty post. "English" is capitalized. No excuses. Now get back to your second unpaid job.

Second unpaid job, omg I almost laughed myself to death. You should be a stand up comedian.

Yeah, since the story is based on rumor, innuendo, and b.s., no retraction is necessary.
Let the reader be ware! It's easy to write crap culled from second-hand rumors and gossip mongering....

Gina Gershon is far, very far ,from being a young thing.
Look up some of her older movies.
Pure porn and sleaze.
Gershon and the Coke Nosed ex-Pres?
Right up her alley. Alley being the key word.
I'm sure it's true.
As to the "sez" , some newspapers long ago quit demanding intelligence and education of their employees. You're reading one.
Posted by: brenda | June 09, 2008 at 12:28 PM
"Dee Dee Meyers is the sister of Betsy Meyers. Betsy Meyers is the Chief Operating Officer of the Obama campaign."
Fascinating! Except that Dee Dee spells her last name "Myers". Unfortunately for Hillary, such claims are a classic example of the intelligence she had working for her.

Who or what is a Gina Gershon? And why should anyone care?
Posted by: Luddite | June 09, 2008 at 01:03 PM
wow! - no tv, radio, etc..for the last two months and i log on to news via the internet and the big story??? Bill Clinton, you can't be serious...people - turn off the electronics - its time to learn anything new - my only comment is...is it free publicity for Gina, Vanity Fair or the Dems?

She's still hot -- if you don't get too close.

"Sez" is a long-time shorthand used in headlines, people. Once upon a time, newspapers only had so many spaces in which to fit as much info as they could. "Sez" takes up less real estate than "Says." Commas replace "and." Find something else to criticize, but leave the headlines to someone else.
