Conspiracy theory: Did the Russian Mafia kill Ruslana Korshunova?

A beautiful, successful Russian model leaps out of a window and kills herself. Why?

Theories are now flooding the Internet about the "real" reason for Ruslana Korshunova's death. Some even claim that she was a victim of a Russian Mafia-controlled teenage-model flesh-peddling organization.

One wild theory is that "Ruslana's death might be related to the model wanting out desperately and not being allowed to do so by the Paris-New York-Moscow mafia that controls teenage models. Some reports have linked the economic giant Gazprom with creating a web of model management and discovery with a tightly controlled escort spinoff that sets up supermodels with corporative tycoons.  Most of the girls being from Eastern Europe."

Even Geraldo Riviera is getting into the act (surprise), showing footage of the model's body on a stretcher.

Another crazy conspiracy theory based on speculation - not fact. This is as far fetched as a Russian agent poisoning someones sushi.

I don’t think she committed suicide. She would have fell to her death at the entry way. Her body wasn’t directly below her window. It doesn’t make sense. They would find blood on the building entry roof, if it was suicide.I think she was murdered. One of the two men -she was involved with is the murderer.

Wow, what a loss. She had a huge future, no reason to jump. Besides women often suicide with pills while guys jump, use a gun or hang themselves. It was probably a suicide, but I wouldn't bet against the Russian Mafia doing something like that. They are very powerful, and high profile assassinations are the norm in Russia. I was there for a while, and many Russians are still very much scared of the KGB and the mafia.

As a former young model myself who formerly lived in NYC interestingly enough very near in Tribeca, now behind the camera; I feel that one of two theories are true if not spot on.
Either one of the boyfreinds were so obsessed with her beauty not to mention rising fame that they pushed her in a jealous rage. Of course there was no struggle..she liked both of them and most likely trusted them so there would be no struggle. As for the mafia theory, After the fall of communism, Russia does have some the wealthiest people on this planet and I doubt that her income at this stage in her career would bring them any significant amount of money for them to kill her. Some Russian billionaires don't care about a measly percentage of $1million (20%?-$200,000) from a girl from po-dunk Russia. It was either of the boyfriends PERIOD!

The only reason these conspiracy theories have arisen is because of Ruslana's beauty. It seems as though people believe that because Ruslana was living a life which the general population would probably classify as a fairy-tale, that she shouldn't be subject to pain and depression. Unfortunately, beauty does not equal happiness.
We don't know anything about Ruslana, or about how much she was internalizing. Depression can be genetic, so when you add a foreign country and loneliness into the mix, it could be a recipe for extreme unhappiness. Of course, that is all speculation. I don't think we'll ever know the answer as to why she thought that suicide was the only answer. However, I think that some of these conspiracy theories are both ludicrous and disrespectful to Ruslana's memory.

As hard as it is for me to ever understand taking any life, even one's own, has it been considered (due to her emails) that she was still very much in love with her EX-boyfriend, had spent the night with him (she was with him watching Ghost), and after speaking with her current boyfriend who obviously adored her, felt such intense guilt that she felt the only resolution was to leave this life? I know it sounds far-fetched, but I've been in that position, and the guilt is overwhelming. She seemed like such a very sweet, kind girl, and an indiscretion like that could have shaken her to her core. Regardless of why, I truly hope that her family can somehow find peace. Losing a loved one is more painful that words could ever describe, and I send my love to them and will keep them in my prayers.
